Racists Can March but Black NFL Football Players Can’t Kneel… Something Is Wrong With the Priorities In America!

America the land of the free… Where players can’t protest injustice silently, but racists can march in our nation’s capital. This is America where a racist occupant in the White House can say and do some of the most reprehensible things that a man can do, but still pass judgment on players that only want to hold this country to a higher standard. We have watched Trump call players, “Sons-of-bitches” and white supremacists “Very fine people.” Trump has sunken lower and lower every day. He does not filter his words. However, it seems that Trump’s silence speaks more volumes than his words.

Sunday White Supremacists marched in our nation’s capital. They spewed words of hatred and division, but to no surprise there were no statements from Trump. Not a tweet or a comment to the press. Trump has had comments every time a person of color has had an opinion, but he remains silent in the face of hatred. During my time in the United States Army I learned that leaders are defined by their character in time of adversity.

Leaders know when to speak up and be a moral compass for the masses. Trump has shown such an utter lack of morality that he has paid off women and used profane and abusive language. A famous quote by Desmond Tutu says, “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” Trump cannot be neutral when hate groups are marching down the streets of our nation’s capital. So whether you agree or not his silence is advocacy to hatred.

There are only two options. Either he agrees with them and his silence is a dog whistle to his supports, or he is apathetic to the issues and he does not see a hate group as an injustice to our nation. Whichever the case, he has sent another clear message to every person that is the target of those hate groups, Trump does not care about your struggle. The last 48 hours I have heard numerous people use Faux news talking points about Black unemployment being the lowest in the history of this country and yet no one can point to one piece of legislation passed by Trump that can legitimately give him credit for an unemployment rate that was established during the Obama era. Jimmy Kimmel interviewed Kanye West recently and he reminded Kanye of his epic statement that, “George Bush doesn’t care about black people. Kanye smiled but when Jimmy followed up by asking what exactly has Trump done to show that he cares about black people or any other group of people his smile turned into a brooding look and awkward silence.

America it is time to wake up and use common sense. I challenge anyone that still supports Trump to present actual facts that support your claims. When you have a President that allows hate groups to march but protest those who peacefully demonstrate against injustice then how can you claim he is a moral and just leader? At this point can you name anything Trump has actually done that is positive or even Presidential? Help me understand because I took a hard look at Trump’s actions and there is nothing about this man that says LEADERSHIP.

Remember we are all in this struggle together. Our collective rise is the demise of injustice.
