Carlos Condit Shocker: UFC 127 Shaken by Change

UFC welterweight contender Carlos “the Natural Born Killer” Condit, 26-5, the man many were waiting for to return to the Octagon after his highlight reel KO of Dan Hardy, 23-8, has been forced out of his UFC 127 bout with Chris Lytle, 30-17-5, after suffering a knee injury in training. There is no word on the severity of the injury or the duration of the layoff or if surgery is required, but Brian Ebersole is going to replace him.

“Bad Boy” Ebersole is 46-14-1 and will be scrapping his planned appearance at the Australian-held Fate MMA 2 event for his UFC debut against Lytle.The 30-year old is on a seven-fight win streak since losing to current Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard in 2008. His most recent win came via TKO over Hamish Roberston, prior to that bout, he defeated former UFC welterweight champion Carlos Newton via unanimous decision.

Chris Lytle has become a mainstay in the UFC welterweight division for his go-for-broke style. “Lights Out” is currently on a four fight winning streak and is fresh off of a dominant decision victory over former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra, 11-7.

UFC 127 is scheduled to take place February 26th, 2011 at Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. and will feature the main event between former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion BJ Penn, 16-7-1, and welterweight contender Jon Fitch, 23-3.
