By Sean Farrell

Ultimate Fighter season 5 alumni and UFC lightweight Gabe Ruediger (17-7) has been released from the UFC following back-to-back losses to Joe Lauzon (19-6) and Paul Taylor (11-6-1). Ruediger was on a six fight win streak in multiple promotions before going 0-2 in the UFC organization. This release however has led to a recent UFC new hire as well.

Dave “Pee-Wee” Herman (20-2) Herman is expected to make his debut inside the Octagon at UFC 131 in June against Rob Broughton. Herman was last seen fighting at World Victory Road Presents: Soul of Fight last December where he defeated Yoshihiro Nakao via unanimous decision.

Herman is an imposing heavyweight standing 6’5 and weighing in at 241 pounds, while possessing very long limbs and excellent takedown defense only Mu Bae Choi (9-4) has defeated him cleanly by TKO stoppage in 2009. Sokoudjou’s (10-8) victory over Herman was DQ related from an illegal knee strike.
