Wanderlei Silva Vs Chris Leben: Done Deal

By Sean Farrell

MMA’s favorite fighter Wanderlei Silva got his wished granted that he and Chris Leben have been campaigning for on their Twitter accounts for the past several months; however UFC President Dana White had been stating that he wanted Silva to face Vitor Belfort next.

It appears now that “The Axe Murderer” got his way, as the UFC officially announced that Leben will face Silva at UFC 132 this July. This fight is going to be nothing but a WAR these two men will commence beating on each other until one of them drops which isn’t very likely.

“Two fan favorites will go to war as Chris ‘The Crippler’ Leben has verbally agreed to face Wanderlei ‘The Axe Murderer’ Silva in Las Vegas July 2nd,” said UFC President Dana White.

Silva and Leben have expressed an interest in fighting each other ever since Leben stepped up to replace an injured Silva against Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 116 last July. Both men have cited their respect for the other and his body of work as being the primary reasons for wanting the fight to happen, in addition to the fact that they would almost certainly put on a slugfest for the fans. UFC 132 is expected to take place on July 2, 2011 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event features Dominick Cruz in a rematch with Urijah Faber for Cruz’ UFC title.
