Battlecruisers is the creation of two indie creators from New Zealand\u2014designer, Peter Casale, and developer, Felix Mann\u2014who have been blown away by the reaction from the gaming community.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I saw Battlecruisers on the front page of STEAM I had to quadruple-check that I wasn\u2019t imagining things,\u201d Peter said. \u201cI got friends and family in countries all over the world to check it wasn\u2019t just me. Then I stood on my deck and whooped a dozen times at 180dB before remembering I had neighbours.\u201d<\/p>\n
The overwhelmingly positive reception means the duo can get to work on expanding the game at the request of numerous players; something they weren\u2019t sure could ever happen.<\/p>\n
\u201cFelix thought we\u2019d make twelve sales and have to quit,\u201d Peter said fondly. \u201cPart of me thought that too\u2014getting an indie game off the ground is just so tough. But at the same time, I knew deep down we had something really different here, if only we could gain that initial traction with players.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cExpanding the game will take time,\u201d he added, \u201cespecially when it\u2019s just the two of us. But now we know there\u2019s a real demand for Battlecruisers, we can push ahead with our wishlist\u2026 which has practically doubled in the last few days. Players are asking for a lot of additions\u2014more levels, multiplayer, sandbox mode, skirmishes, translations, everything\u2014so now we need to prioritise what we want to do next and then get to work.\u201d<\/p>\n
Battlecruisers is aimed at casual strategy fans seeking immersion in short bursts with battles lasting around 5-10 minutes. Players can download the game now for a 20% discount on STEAM during the launch period.
