You have to watch the fight to see what I’m going to do.” – Sugar Shane Mosley

This Saturday, Showtime PPV brings together two of the biggest names in boxing. In one corner, the man that is considered the pound for pound best, Manny Pacquiao, 52-3-2, 38 KO’s, facing an all time great standing across the ring in Sugar Shane Mosley, 46-6-1, 39 KO’s.

Mosley may be considered an underdog due to his last two recent outings with Floyd Mayweather, JR., and Sergio Mora, but he comes into this event with a full head of steam, focused, and ready to prove the world wrong, much like he did when he pummeled the heavily favored Antonio Margarito in 2009.

With all of the articles and coverage of this super fight, RSR elected to speak directly with the man ready to shock the world, Sugar Shane Mosley. As always, we vow to bring you the biggest names in the boxing world and there aren’t many bigger than the multiple time world champion, Mosley.

Mosley’s track record is amazing, with victories over Oscar De La Hoya (twice), Jesse James Leija, Fernando Vargas (twice), Ricardo Mayorga, Antonio Margarito, Luis Collazo, and the list goes on an on. He has held his own with a prime Miguel Cotto and nearly dropped Floyd Mayweather, JR., in their fight. Not many are giving him a chance at 39 years of age, but with a powerful punch, great conditioning, and a solid chin, never being knocked out, he will be there in the trenches with Pacquiao in hopes of another career highlight win.

GM: Against Floyd Mayweather, JR., you seemed to be unable to get an offense going. How do you plan to get one going against Manny Pacquiao?

I’d rather show you on Saturday than tell you.

GM: Manny Pacquiao has gone the distance with Joshua Clottey and Antonio Margarito without stopping them. You’ve never been knocked out. Does this give you confidence that you are going to be able to withstand the incoming and get to him eventually?

No, that reason doesn’t give me confidence, my abilities and experience gives me confidence.

GM: A lot of the focus has been placed upon your age. Why is this not a factor and how do you turn back the clock this Saturday?

The reason why it’s not a factor is because I’m able to do the things I’ve done when I was younger.

GM: When you watch Pacquiao’s fight with Margarito, and you see that he went the distance and struggled at times in the fight, and you knocked him cold, what does that tell you and does it give you a window into how this fight will play out?

Yes, it does and you should watch Saturday to see it!

GM: Did it bother you that Margarito was allowed to fight considering that he loaded his gloves with plaster? Did it enrage you the night of the fight considering that he was willing to put your life on the line to line his pockets?

You know what happened that night I fought Margarito. You tell me if it enraged me…

GM: Some say you only have a “puncher’s chance.” Do you believe this to be true and if not, what way do you plan to win if not by the knockout punch?

No, I have more than enough experience for any situation. You have to watch the fight to see what I’m going to do.

GM: People are already talking about Manny’s next fight. Will it be Marquez. Will it be Mayweather? How upsetting is it for you, with everything you’ve accomplished to be overlooked by the media?

It is disrespectful.

GM: Pacquiao has gotten a lot of attention for beating guys like Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, and Antonio Margarito, but none of them were in their prime. Do you think that people have built up Pacquiao beyond his abilities? Is he overrated?

Manny is a good fighter. I would rather have the fight on Saturday answer your question.

(Interview’s Note: I would like to personally thank Kristen Tambara for assisting in setting up this
