She was 78.<\/p>\n<p>Veronica Yvette Bennett, known as Ronnie Spector, was born August 10, 1943 in Manhattan, New York City. She formed the girl group the Ronettes in 1957 with her elder sister Estelle Bennett and their cousin Nedra Talley. She sang lead vocals on the Ronettes\u2019s list of hits including \u201cBe My Baby\u201d (1963), \u201cBaby, I Love You\u201d (1963), \u201cThe Best Part of Breakin\u2019 Up\u201d (1964) and \u201cWalking in the Rain\u201d (1964). The Ronettes were voted the third-top singing group in England behind The Beatles and Rolling Stones. After a European concert tour and finding success in the music industry the Ronettes broke up in 1967. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Spector also had a career as a solo artist. She released 4 albums: \u201cSiren\u201d in 1980, \u201cUnfinished Business\u201d in 1987, \u201cThe Last of the Rockstars\u201d in 2006 and \u201cEnglish Heart\u201d in 2016.<br \/>\nIn 1990, she published a memoir, \u201cBaby My Baby: How I Survived Mascara, Miniskirts, and Madness, Or, My Life as a Fabulous Ronette\u201d.
