Former President Donald J. Trump has been indicted by the Justice Department on four counts related to his attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. Trump ultimately failed at clinging to a last minute victory over now President Joe Biden, but he sure tried every way he could to try.<\/p>\n<p>The indictment was filed by special counsel Jack Smith in Federal District Court in Washington D.C. In the filing the DOJ outlines how they believe Trump participated in three conspiracies. First, he attempted to defraud the United States. He then obstructed an official government proceeding, and willfully tried to deprive people of civil rights provided by federal law or the Constitution. Trump\u2019s final count is also regarding obstruction of an official proceeding.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The New York Times reports that federal investigators allege that the Jan. 6th Riot was \u201cfueled by lies\u201d from the former president. \u201cDespite having lost, the defendant was determined to remain in power,\u201d federal prosecutors wrote. There was new information released that shows damning evidence against Trump and the role he played leading up to and on Jan. 6, 2021. The NY Times said this includes notes prosecutors obtained on conversations between Trump and former V.P. Mike Pence.<\/p>\n<p>The one term, twice impeached, four time indicted Trump is expected to be in court on Thursday at 4pm EST. Magistrate Judge Moxila A.
