Lead Defense Attorney Jose Baez began his closing arguments today in the Casey Anthony trial, informing the jury that there are a lot of unanswered questions concerning the case. There is a reasonable doubt. Baez asked the question: \u201cHow did Caylee die?\u201d<\/p>\n

This morning, Baez noted: “I know there were times where every single person in here felt something deep down inside,” Baez stated. “This case must not be decided for or against anyone because you feel sorry for anyone, or angry at anyone. That’s because we want you to base your verdict on the evidence, not emotion.”<\/p>\n

Baez went on to tell the jury that the Prosecution was playing their emotions, noting that the testimony that was given was irrelevant. The fact that they painted Casey as a slut, a party girl\u2026 it didn\u2019t apply to the case. Baez enforced the theory that this was an accident, not a murder, stating that: “I told you the very first day that this was an accident that snowballed out of control.\u201d<\/p>\n

Baez continued with the drowning theory. Caylee drowned in the Anthony family swimming pool, and then went on to the allegation that Casey was a victim of sexual abuse at the hands of her father, George Anthony, and her fear of her father and overall mental capacity added to the fact that she never called the police, reporting that her daughter had drowned in 2008.<\/p>\n

The focus was on George Anthony, and shifted away from the \u201cdeath smell\u201d in the trunk of the car. Baez put out several photos of the people that stated that they smelled human decomposition in the Anthony car, then showed the jury a much longer list of people that stated that they did not smell anything. Baez strongly noted that there \u201cis a reasonable doubt.\u201d<\/p>\n

Baez continued: “The state wants you to believe that Casey Anthony, in broad daylight, was going to borrow a neighbor’s shovel, even though they had four or five shovels, and bury her child in the backyard. Is that reasonable? How does that even pass muster at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Casey Anthony, 25, is accused of the first degree murder of her 2 year old daughter, Caylee. She has pleaded not guilty and her Defense had done a wonderful job. We will see how the jury received it and if they have a reasonable doubt.<\/p>\n
