She was 71.<\/p>\n<p>Mahaffey had a career which spanned nearly 50 years and was known for her Emmy winning role as Eve on \u201cNorthern Exposure\u201d. She also starred as Alma Hodge on \u201cDesperate Housewives\u201d, teacher Victoria MacElroy on \u201cYoung Sheldon\u201d and had a recurring role as Lorna Harding on \u201cDead to Me\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She won two Obie awards for her roles in \u201cTop Girls\u201d and \u201cTalking Heads\u201d.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Valerie Mahaffey was born in Indonesia on 16 June 1953.<\/p>\n<p>She is survived by her husband Joseph Kell and daughter Alice.<\/p>\n<p>Ringside Reports sends their condolences to the Mahaffey Family in their time of grief.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;
