He was 81.<\/p>\n<p>The keyboardist co-wrote many of the group&#8217;s biggest songs, including &#8220;Goodbye Stranger,&#8221; &#8220;Breakfast in America,&#8221; and &#8220;Bloody Well Right&#8221;.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>He founded the band in 1969 with Richard Palmer, Robert Millar and Roger Hodgson by placing an ad in Melody Maker and named it after the book The Autobiography of a Super-Tramp by Welsh author William Henry Davies.<\/p>\n<p>The commercial breakthrough came with 1974\u2019s \u201cCrime of the Century\u201d with the Davies-penned hits \u201cBloody Well Right\u201d and \u201cCrime of the Century,\u201d and the Hodgson-penned \u201cDreamer\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBreakfast in America\u201d, the band\u2019s sixth album, went quadruple platinum and won two Grammy Awards alongside an Album of the Year nomination.<\/p>\n<p>My personal favorites are \u201cIt\u2019s Raining Again\u201d and \u201cSchool\u201d, I just adore these songs.<\/p>\n<p>Rick Davies is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Sue.<\/p>\n<p>Ringside Report sends their condoleances to The Davies Family in their time of grief.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;
