She was 91.<\/p>\n<p>She played Dirk Bogarde\u2019s love interest in \u201cDoctor at Sea\u201d, a big hit in the UK in 1955.<\/p>\n<p>Bardot shot to international fame in 1956 with \u201cAnd God Created Woman\u201d, written and directed by her then husband, Roger Vadim.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In the early 1960s, she appeared in high-profile French movies, including Henri-Georges Clouzot\u2019s Oscar-nominated drama \u201cThe Truth\u201d, Louis Malle\u2019s \u201cVery Private Affair\u201d (opposite Marcello Mastroianni) and Jean-Luc Godard\u2019s \u201cContempt\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In America she became famous starring in movies like \u201cAct of Love\u201d with Kirk Douglas and \u201cShalako\u201d with Sean Connery,<\/p>\n<p>After retiring from movies at age 39 in 1973, her primary focus became animal welfare activism, joining protests against seal hunts in 1977 and establishing the Brigitte Bardot Foundation in 1986. She sent letters of protest to world leaders over issues such as dog extermination in Romania, dolphin killing in the Faroe Islands and cat slaughter in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Brigitte Bardot is survived by her son Nicolas.<\/p>\n<p>Ringside Report sends their condolences to The Bardot Family in their time of grief.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;
