He is charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have released all my counsel, said Jeffs. \u201cI desire to represent myself.\u201d<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Jeffs spoke for about 20 minutes today, rambling at times. He noted that his lawyers could not represent his \u201ctrue defense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The prosecution contends that Jeffs sexually assaulted the girls and manipulated them into a \u201cspiritual marriage.\u201d The Defense is claiming that his religious freedoms were compromised.<\/p>\n<p>Jeffs is the head of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and the girls he is accused of sexually assaulting are the ages 17 and 12.
