A heavyweight title fight is looming between the WBC Champion, Vitali Klitschko, 42-2, 39 KO\u2019s, and former cruiserweight champion, Tomasz Adamek, 44-1, 28 KO\u2019s, but you wouldn\u2019t know it here in the states. Any and all coverage of the sport of boxing seems to focus on Floyd Mayweather, JR., and Manny Pacquiao, the two men that have been battling for the top pound for pound spot without fighting each other. <\/p>\n

The two big fights, in the opinion of the majority of the remaining boxing fans, is the Floyd Mayweather, JR \u2013 Victor Ortiz PPV and the third bout between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez. The boxing tickets<\/a> for these events will move well without question, but the rest of the sport is basically forgotten.<\/p>\n

The WBC Welterweight champion, Victor Ortiz, is in the fight of his life when he takes on the pound for pound best, arguably, Floyd Mayweather, JR. Victor is motivated, hungry, powerful, and he will be aggressive against the puzzling and defensive style of \u201cMoney,\u201d on September 17th. The interest in this fight has grown as we have closed in on the showdown. HBO\u2019s 24\/7 reality show has done a great job of fanning the flame of public interest, bringing the viewer into the lives of both fighters. I have been wrong before, and my instincts haven\u2019t always been correct, but I think Ortiz is going to give Floyd a great deal of problems.<\/p>\n

The other boxing<\/a> showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez hasn\u2019t caught on as widely but it\u2019s still a little while away, taking place in November. The two warriors have fought courageously and evenly against each other. Marquez has come up short once and earned a draw, but he is 2-0 against the Pacman in his opinion, and the opinion of many others. Pacquiao has trampled over some notable opponents in recent years and outside of Floyd Mayweather, JR., there aren\u2019t many other marketable opponents that could share a pay per view bill.<\/p>\n

Marquez is not talking with much confidence going into this third encounter, speaking the continued improvement of Pacquiao, and he may not have the energy to hold of the \u201cPacman\u201d in this third encounter. Manny is and should be a big favorite going into this one.<\/p>\n

Despite the many other interesting bouts in boxing, there are really only two fights that matter and those involve the two best pound for pound fighters in the game.<\/p>\n
