{"id":1720,"date":"2010-03-19T00:01:07","date_gmt":"2010-03-19T05:01:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ringsidereport.com\/?p=1720"},"modified":"2010-03-19T00:01:07","modified_gmt":"2010-03-19T05:01:07","slug":"the-boxing-weekend-wladimir-klitschko-headlines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ringsidereport.com\/?p=1720","title":{"rendered":"The Boxing Weekend: Wladimir Klitschko Headlines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a rel=\"http:\/\/www.ringsidereport.com\/?p=1720\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ringsidereport.com\/?p=1720\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-836\" style=\"margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" title=\"Boxing Ring Header\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ringsidereport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/Boxing-Ring-Header.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"232\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a>By Geno McGahee<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ESPN2\u2019s Friday Night Fights<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This weekend\u2019s episode of ESPN2\u2019s Friday Night Fights presents a rematch between light middleweights Sechew Powell, 25-2, 15 KO\u2019s, and Deandre Latimore, 20-2, 16 KO\u2019s, in a 12 round IBF Eliminator.<\/p>\n<p>The two met in 2008, and Latimore scored the upset knockout win in the seventh round.\u00a0 Powell has rebounded with two victories over mediocre opposition and plans to avenge his worst defeat.<\/p>\n<p>Powell made a name for himself on SHOBOX, most notably scoring a 22 second stoppage of Cornelius Bundrage, after both men hit the floor simultaneously in the first five seconds of the round.\u00a0 Powell would lose to a prime Kassim Ouma, rebound with a decision over Contender star, Ishe Smith, before getting stopped by Latimore.\u00a0 He now looks to get back on track.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Latimore was a relatively untested fighter before stepping into the ring with Powell and he quickly showed that he was the real deal.\u00a0 He recently lost a controversial split decision to Cory Spinks with the IBF crown on the line.\u00a0 He hopes to repeat his victory and get another crack at the title.<br \/>\n\u2018<br \/>\n<strong>Wlad\u2019s Back<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>IBO\/IBF\/WBO Heavyweight Champion, Wladimir \u201cDr. Steelhammer\u201d Klitschko, 53-3, 47 KO\u2019s, defends his title in Germany against American challenger, Eddie Chambers, 35-1, 18 KO\u2019s.\u00a0 Unfortunately, American TV will not be running with this good title fight.\u00a0 Klitschko has been out of the ring for nearly ten months and will have to be on his game to stop the quick and intelligent challenger.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chambers holds wins over Calvin Brock, Dominick Guinn, and former WBC Heavyweight Champion, Sam Peter.\u00a0 His only loss was an uninspired performance which led to a decision loss to Alexander Povetkin.\u00a0 He was incredibly focused in his last fight, a decision win over Alexander Dimitrenko, and comes into this fight with a full head of steam.<\/p>\n<p>Wlad is 10-0, 8 KO\u2019s, in his last ten outings and plans to make it 11-0 with his incredible jab and right hand.\u00a0 Size may matter when it comes to this showdown, as the 6 foot 6 inch champion towers over the much smaller Chambers.\u00a0 It will be interesting to see how Chambers deals with the size differential.\u00a0\u00a0 This fight has the potential to be a barnburner, but American fans will have to await the fight results instead of seeing it live, the way the heavyweight title bout should be seen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ringsidereport.com\/?page_id=5\">Advertise Now On RSR<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.authorhouse.com\/BookStore\/ItemDetail.aspx?bookid=13198\">Purchase Boxing Interviews Of A Lifetime<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=v-X5bF6vIf8\">Watch The Trailer For Family Secret<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Geno McGahee ESPN2\u2019s Friday Night Fights This weekend\u2019s episode of ESPN2\u2019s Friday Night Fights presents a rematch between light middleweights Sechew Powell, 25-2, 15 KO\u2019s, and Deandre Latimore, 20-2, 16 KO\u2019s, in a 12 round IBF Eliminator.
