It\u2019s not hard to figure out that when Valentine\u2019s Day rolls around; men might panic and get a last minute gift. But really, Valentine\u2019s Day with your significant other needn\u2019t be filled with so much pressure. For both men and women, we might need to make it an extra special day. I, without a significant other, send out Valentines via mail to close friends and family and I make cupcakes or Rice Krispies treats for my training partners at my martial arts school. As the day gets closer, while I usually preach to my RSR male audience, I\u2019d like to now approach my RSR female audience and give you a fun, playful article for Valentine\u2019s Day as well. I am, after all, an advice giver on dating and while I have had limited success, I suppose that\u2019s where my wisdom comes from.<\/p>\n

This year, Valentine\u2019s Day falls on a Tuesday. It\u2019s a difficult day to plan because its right smack after a Monday. On Tuesdays, I usually enjoy catching up on \u201cSouthland\u201d or watching the Lakers game. However, I\u2019ll give you a little hint about what to do BEFORE Tuesday. Don\u2019t feel like you have to celebrate on that day specifically. Because restaurants have been accepting reservations for the day for a couple of weeks now, finding a nice place to eat on Valentine\u2019s Day might be difficult and the prices may be prix fixe. <\/p>\n

Gift suggestion #1<\/strong> \u2013 Order your favorite pizza, takeout Chinese or Thai, or even cook a meal. Stay in and catch up on DVR. Your sweetie will love the low key evening and um, well, either before or after \u2013 do something amorous. Should you decide before, you\u2019ll have the takeout to feast on after. Should you decide after, wait an adequate amount of time before said activity \u2013 no onions or Dr. Pepper. Such a combo might kill the mood. Insert wink emoticon here.<\/p>\n

Gift suggestion #2 \u2013<\/strong> On Friday, George Lucas\u2019 \u201cPhantom Menace\u201d in 3-D will be playing at movie theatres. So maybe your man and the Star Wars movies have a relationship you don\u2019t quite understand. But come on, I\u2019m a woman and I absolutely love Star Wars. For this special occasion, as said in a movie somewhere, \u201cJust shut your eyes (figuratively) and get it over with.\u201d It\u2019s a huge thing when you go out of your way to watch a movie that may instantly bring an involuntary eye-roll. Or, as an option, mention \u201cRed Tails.\u201d Maybe he\u2019ll want to see that instead. For my \u201cAt the Movies\u201d role play, I liked \u201cRed Tails.\u201d Mention the little tidbit about George Lucas as executive producer and how you heard the aerial scenes might be fairly good. Your man just might forget the movie and stay in.<\/p>\n

Gift suggestion #3<\/strong> \u2013 Buy boxer briefs<\/p>\n

While you surely don\u2019t need to be a mother figure in any way since he certainly doesn\u2019t need two, buying your man dark colored boxer briefs is really doing him a favor. Do not, by any means, buy anything with hearts on it. As I had mentioned in a prior article, a man buying me lingerie, please, there\u2019s no need. But it\u2019s a completely different aesthetic. As long as you know your man\u2019s size (waistband), it\u2019s perfectly okay, but do not indulge him, well, maybe you can, by having said boxer briefs contain any sort of Elmo type character in his \u2018area.\u2019 It\u2019s just too creepy and I\u2019m sure you\u2019ll agree. Dark colored boxer briefs are sexy and practical.<\/p>\n

Gift suggestion #4<\/strong> \u2013 Buy the sports jersey<\/p>\n

While gift suggestion #4 was recently mentioned as a reason for a guy to be \u2018undateable\u2019 because he might be an over enthusiastic sports fan, here\u2019s one way as the woman you can own it. First, perhaps get him a contrasting Under Armor active wear shirt that can serve as incentive for him to use the shirt when he decides to exercise. It\u2019s completely appropriate for your man also to wear the shirt when you go out and if it\u2019s an important game. Remember ladies, you can get a cute sports team jersey as well, but just don\u2019t wear it at the same time as your man. Also, when you buy the jersey, model it for him, be seductive, and he more than likely might not want to wear it out in public because he can only envision you in it. I, for one, don\u2019t have a sports jersey that has the sweetheart neckline and soft cotton that I require. And really, when you two decide to go watch said team out in public, you needn\u2019t dress alike to show how you support your team.<\/p>\n

Gift suggestion #5<\/strong> \u2013 This is the most obvious one. This suggestion can be taken either way, ladies. Just say yes to activities you would normally say no. I\u2019ll leave it to your best judgment as to what you say yes to. And I\u2019ll give you the same advice I was given by my education at Catholic school \u2013 whatever you do, just don\u2019t feel bad afterwards about saying yes.<\/p>\n

Now, if you notice, all gift ideas can be easily accomplished, you may even double up on gifts. And hey, if you got your tax return already, indulge in the sports jersey and I recommend, if you can, David Beckham\u2019s new boxers\/boxer brief line at H & M. Maybe even get a soccer jersey. It\u2019s Valentine\u2019s Day and you may have just made a great day for your man, but while you\u2019re at it, it wouldn\u2019t necessarily hurt you to imagine David Beckham in his boxer briefs, eating takeout, or even watching Star Wars with David \u2013 I mean your man. And say yes, to your man, much like you would David Beckham. I know I would.<\/p>\n
