Your best punch is the body shot. Is this a good match for you?

Absolutely, I bring a lot to the table in this fight. Manny Pacquiao is a great fighter. Look at his resume; he has fought some great fighters, but he hasn’t fought a young guy in a very long time. We are going to see if I am the next big thing in boxing and if I am going be able to deal with Manny’s power while I apply my strengths during the fight. This will make a very interesting fight. Stylistically, we match up pretty well. He is very explosive and I am as well. I like to attack, he likes to attack. He fights in angles and I do too, so it’s going to be an interesting matchup. I am looking forward to it and to see if I can impose my will on Manny Pacquiao.

MA: Do you feel Manny has fought someone like you…somebody as fast in the ring?

Not like me. I don’t think he has fought anybody like me in a long while. People thought Shane Mosley was going give him a run for his money. Shane Mosley can only do so much. I definitely, bring a lot to the table: my speed, my power and movement. I am a smart fighter as well. I think that is going make for a really interesting fight.

MA: You have played a spoiler for quite a few undefeated fighters. Which fight has prepared you the most?

There is no fighter in boxing like Manny Pacquiao. Let’s be honest with ourselves. Manny Pacquiao brings a unique style. That is why he has been able to dominate the game for so long; it’s his style, his speed and his power. Dealing with a lefty is hard in itself, but now you have a lefty with speed and power, foot speed and good defense. That is hard to deal with it.

There is really no fight that stylistically could prepare me for Manny Pacquiao but I would definitely say that traveling to England and facing Junior Witter in his home soil and being an underdog…I think that definitely would prepare me mentally for this fight. I have that type of feeling in my gut how it’s going be that night. I know it’s going be exactly how it’s going be in England. I am prepared for that, I have already experienced being the underdog and being in a mega fight. If I can win in England, I can win here too.

MA: Devon will be facing Marcos Maidana on Saturday. How do you see that fight going down?

I favor Devon Alexander in this fight because he is the boxer. He does have a bit of problems with guys who apply pressure to him but I think his last fight with Matthysse…he dug down deep and pulled out a victory. But Matthysse is a little bit more technically sound than Maidana. I think Maidana kind of rushes in and leaves himself open a lot. I think a smarter fighter like Devon Alexander is going be able to capitalize on a lot of mistakes; he will get out of range and polish him up a little bit. He will use his range and jab to keep Maidana honest.

MA: There are thousands of thousands of boxers in the world. Some are great inside the gym but don’t perform well under the lights. What makes the difference from a great gym fighter to a great live fighter?

I think honestly it all boils down to mental preparation. Hard work, dedication and the mental preparation is what makes champions. There a lot of guys out there that are talented but mentally they are not strong. Maybe they have distractions here and there. Maybe they don’t believe in themselves as much as they should. But mentally, when they get in a fight, they do well in the gym but then when they fight live its completely different for them. I think it has to do with that mental toughness. That mental toughness in a fight, when it gets tough in there you need to start digging deep and but they fade away and don’t step up when they have to. Having heart, determination, skills and willing to work I think that’s what builds champions…being smart.

Timothy Bradley
Nickname: “Desert Storm”
Division: Light Welterweight
Professional Record: 28-0-0, 12 KO’s

2011-11-12 — Joel Casamayor, Las Vegas, NV, TKO 8
1-29— Devon Alexander, Pontiac, Michigan W TD 10

2010

07-17 — Luis Carlos Abregu, Rancho Mirage, CA, W 12

2009

12-12 — Lamont Peterson, Rancho Mirage, CA, W 12
(Retained WBO light welterweight title)
08-01 — Nate Campbell, Rancho Mirage, CA, NC 3
(Retained WBO light welterweight title)
04-04 — Kendall Holt, Montreal, Canada, W 12
(Retained WBC light welterweight title)
(Won WBO light welterweight title)

2008

09-13 — Edner Cherry, Biloxi, MS, W 12
(Retained WBC light welterweight title)
05-10 — Junior Witter, Nottingham, United Kingdom, W 12
(Won WBC light welterweight title)

2007

07-27 — Miguel Vazquez, Corona, CA, W 10
06-01 — Donald Camarena, Santa Ynez, CA, W 10
04-13 — Nasser Athumani, Ontario, CA, TKO 5
02-02 — Manuel Garnica, Santa Ynez, CA, W 8

2006

12-01 — Jaime Rangel, Santa Ynez, CA, W Tech Dec 8
10-16 — Alfonso Sanchez, Ontario, CA, KO 1
08-18 — Martin Ramirez, Corona, CA, TKO 5
06-23 — Arturo Urena, Ontario, CA, TKO 3
05-13 — Jesus Santiago, Lancaster, CA, KO 6
03-31 — Eli Addison, Ontario, CA, W 8
02-17 — Rafael Ortiz, Ontario, CA, TKO 2

2005

11-21 — Jorge Padilla, Ontario, CA, W Tech Dec 9
09-23 — Francisco Rincon, Corona, CA, W 10
08-26 — Juan Cervantes, Corona, CA, W 6
07-21 — Marcos Costa, Los Angeles, CA, TKO 5
06-03 — Justo Almazan, Ontario, CA, W 6
04-25 — Ramon Ortiz, Ontario, CA, KO 3
03-28 — Carlos Parra, Ontario, CA, KO 1

2004

11-22 — Luis Medina, Ontario, CA, TKO 1
10-29 — Raul Nunez, Ontario, CA, W 4
08-20 — Francisco Martinez, Corona,CA, TKO 2

Exclusive Interview by Marc Anthony “I bring a lot to the table in this fight.
