Maidana could not fight a rhythm in the ring, never finding a home for his power punches.

Alexander recaptured the magic and looked like the fighter of old that impressed so many boxing fans and writers. Maidana, not the greatest fighter in the world, is as tough as nails and is known for his punching power and spontaneity in the ring. He can end the fight at any time, but he wasn’t given a remote chance. Alexander won easily and moves on to bigger and better things. Maidana, exposed as a limited brawler in a fight with the ancient Erik Morales, was dominated by the young and talented Alexander. Maidana is exciting, but he is not an elite fighter. After this, Alexander is well on his way to being considered that.

Adrien “The Problem” Broner, 23-0, 19 KO’s, had no problems stopping Eloy Perez, 23-1-2, 7 KO’s, in the fourth round of a twelve round bout. Broner stalked the smaller man from round one, using his defense and timing to control.

Perez proved too small to be effective. It was a mismatch on paper and it was a mismatch in the ring.

By Geno McGahee Devon Alexander, 23-1, 13 KO’s, controlled Marcos Maidana, 31-3, 28 KO’s, en route to a wide unanimous decision, by scores of 100-90, 100-90, 99-91.
