Floyd was difficult to find, but Cotto tried mightily to do so. He used his jab to bloody the nose and mouth of Floyd, and the fight was basically even at the midway point, but Mayweather’s ability to adjust and rebound was once again on display and his run in the last half won the fight.

Mayweather, JR., has such tremendous defense that it’s tough to imagine anyone finding him in the ring. Saul Alvarez is apparently not on the list, according to his promoter Oscar De La Hoya, leaving the list of good opponents very short. A good night for Floyd.

Mexican superstar, Saul Alvarez, 40-0-1, 29 KO’s, sent the message to Shane Mosley, 46-8-1, 39 KO’s, that his time as a top attraction in boxing was over, as he dominated the fight en route to a wide twelve round decision by the scores of: 119-109, 118-110, and 119-109. Alvarez landed hard shots that jolted Mosley, but he wasn’t able to knock him off his feet. Mosley still had that gun shy approach that we saw when he faced Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Alvarez’s stock went up yet again and he is one of the front runners to take on Floyd Mayweather, JR., if Money Mayweather gets beyond Miguel Cotto in the main event.

By Geno McGahee Floyd Mayweather, JR., 43-0, 26 KO’s, was able to fend off the game challenge of Miguel Cotto, 37-3, 30 KO’s, to win a unanimous decision by scores of 117-111 (twice) and 118-110, to pick up the WBA Light Middleweight Title.
