{"id":2007,"date":"2010-04-11T00:28:58","date_gmt":"2010-04-11T04:28:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ringsidereport.com\/?p=2007"},"modified":"2010-04-11T00:28:58","modified_gmt":"2010-04-11T04:28:58","slug":"rsr-boxing-results-evander-holyfield-tko%e2%80%99s-frans-botha-in-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ringsidereport.com\/?p=2007","title":{"rendered":"RSR Boxing Results: Evander Holyfield TKO\u2019s Frans Botha in 8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ringsidereport.com\/?p=2007\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-627\" style=\"margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" title=\"Evander Holyfield Header\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ringsidereport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/Evander-Holyfield-Header.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"232\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a>By Geno McGahee<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Evander \u201cReal Deal\u201d Holyfield, 43-10-2, 28 KO\u2019s, scored a seventh round TKO over WBF Heavyweight Champion, Frans Botha, 47-5-3, 28 KO\u2019s, thanks in part to a VERY quick stoppage where no punches landed.\u00a0 Botha, coming in at 250 pounds, did not have time on his side and took an early lead, winning the first five rounds clearly.\u00a0 Botha used his right hand to the body and head regularly, even hitting Evander with both fists at the same time.\u00a0 He did it three times in round one and\u00a0 was warned by Russell Mora, the referee and president of the Holyfield fan club (I presume), regularly.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In round six, Holyfield came on and put pressure on the tiring Botha, getting him against the ropes and finally landing some good shots.\u00a0 In the eighth round, Holyfield landed a right hand and dropped Botha.\u00a0 Botha arose and Holyfield pounced, throwing a barrage of punches, none of which landed cleanly and referee Mora jumped in and called it.\u00a0\u00a0 It was one of the worst stoppages of the year.\u00a0 Botha was ahead 5 to 2 at this point and although he was fading, he was still in the fight and still throwing.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This bout told us a lot about both fighters.\u00a0 Holyfield can\u2019t pull the trigger anymore, and Botha doesn\u2019t have the dedication to be a player in the division, coming in so out of shape.\u00a0 Evander did express interest in going for the title again with one of the more recognized belts, which is held by the Klitschkos and David Haye.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Overall, the pay per view wasn\u2019t a bad one.\u00a0 The undercard featured some unknowns in interesting slugfests and the main event was interesting.
