\"\"<\/a>Former WBC Middleweight Champion Julio Cesar Chavez, JR. who lost his title last week to Sergio Martinez, in a fight where he came in at least 20 LBS over the middleweight limit has sent out a message via his Twitter acount about his post fight urine test which came back positive for marijuana (both A and B samples).<\/p>\n

To the public:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Any explanation or justification I try to give for the recent events will likely have little or no convincing, so I want to say to everyone that I fully assume responsibility for my actions, as well as the consequences of them.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I want to apologize to all who are disappointed or hurt by my behavior. Only I know the causes and it\u2019s my responsibility to confront them. In contrast, I can say that I\u2019ll emerge stronger from these events and I will put forth all my effort to vindicate my image in society.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

What happened creates an environment conducive to making a stop along the road and thinking about the future. Today is born the new Julio Cesar Chavez beginning a new stage in my career that is reshaped. I\u2019m preparing myself physically and mentally to achieve new goals, among which definitely in the short term is a rematch with Sergio \u201cMaravilla\u201d Mart\u00ednez.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the solidarity and support that I have received and also recognize all those people who have taken their time to send me messages of any kind.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Today in the RSR office, I received the following email from a diehard boxing fan named Tony Genovese, out of Miami, Florida who had the following to say about this Press Release from Julio Cesar Chavez, JR.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis Press Release is total bullshit! First Julio Cesar Chavez, JR got popped in 2009 for Drunk Driving which led to three misdemeanor charges, two for drunk driving and one for driving without a valid license. Add to this, Chavez failed two drug tests, with the first coming in June 2009, after he defeated Troy Rowlands. What’s next, TMZ catching him on video turning to his trainer Freddie Roach, and saying, “Pass the Roach – Freddie?”<\/span><\/p>\n

This press release is an attempt at damage control and makes me sick! It wreaks of nothing more than “I’m only sorry I got caught!”<\/span><\/p>\n

It wasn’t bad enough he came into the fight as a Cruiserweight with Sergio Martinez who handed him his ass for 11 rounds, but he does all this other crap too! Time to make a statement WBC and the boxing world. The statement is simple: Julio you are out of the sport for at least two years and here is your heavy imposed fine you must pay!
