The former undisputed heavyweight champion, Lennox Lewis, has shown that championship heart again. This time, it wasn\u2019t in the ring. It was in the Dominican Republic as he volunteered at a mission, helping to provide over seven thousand hearing aids to people in need.<\/p>\n

Lewis noted that: \u201cIt\u2019s important to give back. Growing up it wasn\u2019t easy for me and my mom and family. I find that giving back does something for me. There\u2019s hope we can give\u2014it just takes people power.\u201d Lewis followed with comments about his own son, stating that that he wished that he could have brought his son to show him that there are \u201call types of people that make up the world, and we need to care for each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

When I got this email this morning and I was very moved. I sent it out to everyone I could via email, Facebook, Twitter and so forth. I wanted to share some of these responses. I, along with many others, take my hat off to Lennox Lewis, although some had other opinions\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cLennox Lewis didn\u2019t look for any pat on the back. He did this for the right reasons. He showed up and gave help and financing to this great group, unlike many others that just want to be told that they are a good guy and give somebody else\u2019s pocket change to some stupid group that probably pockets the money and spends it on (removed). Lewis is such a great guy and wasn\u2019t looking for any glory from this, but I give him the glory. Lewis is an amazing champion and amazing person. I salute him!\u201d \u2013 Sgt. \u201cI saw Lewis when he destroyed Golota back in the day and he came to ringside and shook my hand and thanked me for coming to the fight. He won me over that day and now he\u2019s doing all this charity work. Wow. What a great guy!\u201d \u2013 Mike Anderson, California<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI once jumped over a fence to get Lennox Lewis\u2019s autograph but I fell face first and security corn-holed me. Lennox watched on and just giggled. Where was his freaking charity then?\u201d \u2013 Martin Santiago, Arizona<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI totally support what Lennox is doing. My group, Friends of Faith, have been in contact with the champ and he vows to work with us too to bring the Twinkie back. Thanks Champ!\u201d \u2013 Benita Henderson<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
