Leaning his 258 pound frame on Cunningham’s body, Tyson slowly wore his opponent down and began to connect with clean power shots as the fight went into the middle rounds.

Cunningham, was still very much in the fight when he got caught with that deceptive right hook. It didn’t look like a knockout punch but it obviously carried some power because Cunningham couldn’t even try to get up and was laying prone for moments while Tyson Fury, still undefeated, stomped around the ring, mugging and posing for the fired up crowd. Fury came in to the fight promising that he would dominate resulting in a short night. The fight showed that Fury has a long way to go before he can present a legitimate challenge to either of the Klitschko brothers or David Haye.

Fury is young but extremely savvy in playing the media and the crowd. In a post-fight interview Fury paid his respects to the fallen Cunningham and then took the microphone to sing an accapella rendition of “Keep it between the Lines” by Ricky Van Shelton. A first, I’m sure for the Garden fight crowd, and Tyson, don’t quit your day job.

In the post-fight press conference, Cunningham claimed that Fury’s game featured fouls and hinted that he might file a complaint with the Commission. Fury, looking relaxed, in his B Boy stance and baseball hat, simply stated that fighting was a rough sport and he brought out the “dog” in his game to take it to Cunningham.

Next, Tyson he must face Kubrat Pulev in another title eliminator, if he gets past Pulev, look for a possible Klitschko fight in 2014!

Other boxing results from the undercard:

Curtis
