anticipated main event of \u201c<strong>MAY DAY:\u00a0 Mayweather vs. Guerrero<\/strong>\u201d this <strong>Saturday<\/strong>, <strong>May 4<\/strong> live on <strong>SHOWTIME PPV<\/strong> from the <strong>MGM Grand Garden Arena<\/strong> in <strong>Las Vegas<\/strong>, <strong>Nev<\/strong>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>So who is going to triumph? \u00a0The experts overwhelmingly like Mayweather to be victorious, but none expect it to be simple or easy. \u00a0Mayweather is the favorite as always, but most expect a competitive, hard-fought scrap, and no one foresees a blow-out.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s fight.\u00a0 Guerrero\u2019s toughness and determination will cause Mayweather some problems at times, but I expect Mayweather to use his smarts and defensive skills, and then adjust to be able to secure a victory by unanimous decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Steve Carp, <\/strong><strong>Las Vegas<\/strong><strong> Review-Journal (Mayweather)<\/strong>: \u201cMayweather by decision. \u00a0With only five fights left in his career, I expect Floyd to be ready to fight and not tarnish his legacy.\u00a0 While southpaws have given him some trouble in the past and Guerrero hits harder than people give him credit for, I don\u2019t think he can do enough damage over 12 rounds to beat Floyd.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mike Coppinger, USA Today (Mayweather):<\/strong> \u201cIt may end up being the toughest fight of Floyd&#8217;s career, facing a southpaw who likes to rough up his opponents, but it\u2019s hard to pick against the greatest fighter of this generation. \u00a0Guerrero will find a lot of success in the early rounds, but as Mayweather always does, he\u2019ll make the necessary adjustments.\u00a0 Mayweather will counter Guerrero and turn his aggression against him. \u00a0Floyd will begin to land more and more as the fight winds down, leading to a close, unanimous decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Percy Crawford, FightHype.com (Mayweather)<\/strong>: \u201cI think it will look a lot like the Ortiz fight minus Guerrero doing something as crazy like not protecting himself at all times. \u00a0Floyd will use Guerrero\u2019s aggression against him and pick him apart over 12 rounds with Guerrero having one or two moments in the fight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tim Dahlberg, Associated Press (Guerrero)<\/strong>: \u201cAll fighters get old, and Floyd Mayweather is no exception. \u00a0Jail and not fighting for a year at a time takes its toll. \u00a0This is the fight he suddenly ages, and gets his first loss.\u00a0 Guerrero by decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lyle Fitzsimmons, The Fight Network (Mayweather)<\/strong>: \u201cAdmittedly, Guerrero is young, tough and powerful, but unless Mayweather gets old overnight, Guerrero is also still vulnerable to precisely the sort of precise punishment \u2018Money\u2019 has dished out to the myriad of foes who have entered with the same \u2018I\u2019ll rough him up\u2019 promises.\u00a0 A la Arturo Gatti, the \u2018Ghost\u2019 gets beaten up in a lot of his wins and, like Gatti, he\u2019s in over his head with Mayweather, who wins by tenth round technical knockout.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Norm Frauenheim, 15rounds.com<\/strong>\/<strong>The Ring<\/strong> (<strong>Mayweather<\/strong>): \u201cGuerrero will make things interesting for a while with pressure and toughness. \u00a0The toughness might surprise Mayweather, but the pressure won\u2019t. \u00a0He\u2019ll counter it with patience and then precision. \u00a0Mayweather\u2019s right will land, occasionally early and with damaging frequency later. \u00a0It might not score a knockdown, but in the end, however, Mayweather\u2019s accuracy will bruise, cut, exhaust and force a tenth-round technical knockout stoppage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leighton Ginn, The Desert Sun (Palm Springs, Calif.), (Mayweather)<\/strong>: \u2013 Mayweather will win by ninth round technical knockout. \u00a0He was a heavy favorite, but now even more so with Guerrero facing legal problems in New York.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kevin Iole, Yahoo (Mayweather)<\/strong>: \u201cI think it\u2019s going to be a closer fight than a lot of people believe and I would have given Guerrero a better shot were it not for the arrest in New York that took a few days out of his training and has to have had some kind of impact upon his focus. \u00a0Mayweather\u2019s legs aren\u2019t the same, but nobody sees punches coming more clearly than he does. \u00a0He\u2019ll have to fight hard to keep Guerrero from mauling him, but Floyd is slick at using his elbows to create space, as he did in the Ricky Hatton fight. \u00a0In a fiercely contested fight, I expect Mayweather to win by decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bill Knight, El Paso Times (Mayweather)<\/strong>: \u201cFloyd may have a little rust, but he is still too quick, too good and will wear Guerrero down and win by ninth-round technical knockout.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ryan Maqui\u00f1ana, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area (Guerrero):<\/strong> \u201cUp until this year, I\u2019d have to go with the untouchable Mayweather if I was forced to pick, but given Guerrero\u2019s southpaw tools, busy hands, ring IQ and fearlessness, it feels like the perfect storm for an upset. \u00a0If he can take advantage of the 36-year-old Mayweather\u2019s inactivity and aging legs, the ultimate question is whether Floyd will still fight with the fire of a king who doesn\u2019t care there\u2019s a $30 million check waiting for him, win or lose. \u00a0Guerrero takes a 12-round decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gordon Marino, Wall Street Journal (Mayweather)<\/strong>: \u201cI think Robert is too vulnerable to the right hand and Mayweather\u2019s is whipsaw fast. \u00a0Also, unlike Andre Berto, when Guerrero pins Mayweather to the ropes, Mayweather is not going to square up. \u00a0Eighth round technical knockout for Mayweather.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>David Mayo<\/strong><strong>, <\/strong><strong>MLive.com\/The Grand Rapids Press (Mayweather)<\/strong>: \u201cIn losing a step and fighting in front of opponents, Mayweather has made himself more dangerous and put himself in more danger. \u00a0No one solved the early version and no one has solved the latter version either. \u00a0Guerrero\u2019s a solid pro\u2019s pro, but he isn\u2019t the best to have tried and Mayweather has to get old before our eyes to lose. \u00a0That will happen if Mayweather fights long enough, but I\u2019m guessing this isn\u2019t the night and he breaks down Guerrero with typical technique and precision until he gets a chance to finish later in the fight.\u00a0 Mayweather wins in nine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Robert Morales, Los Angeles News Group (Mayweather)<\/strong>: \u201cEven though I believe Mayweather has slowed down just a bit, I don\u2019t think it will be enough for Guerrero to land enough clean punches to win the fight.\u00a0 Mayweather wins a decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kieran Mulvaney, ESPN.com (Mayweather)<\/strong>: \u201cGuerrero will make Mayweather fight.\u00a0 He will swarm him, hit him on the arms, shoulders, hips, wherever he can. \u00a0He\u2019ll slow him down and keep Mayweather in front of him and that\u2019ll be his downfall. \u00a0Floyd may not have the legs he once had, but his hand speed is still tremendous and his accurate punches carry weight. \u00a0Guerrero will be in close, head down, and constantly vulnerable to flashing Mayweather uppercuts inside. \u00a0They\u2019ll gradually wear him down and one will finally drop him, leading to a Mayweather barrage and a tenth round technical knockout, but Floyd will be hurting for days afterward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rick Reeno, BoxingScene.com (Guerrero):<\/strong> \u201cThis is the first time I\u2019m picking against Mayweather, but I believe the stage is set for Guerrero to pull off the \u2018Upset of the Year\u2019 (and possibly the decade). \u00a0Unlike some of Mayweather\u2019s past opponents, Guerrero has chased this fight for several years. \u00a0He is fresher, \u00a0hungrier, throws a lot more punches, has a good chin, is very physical and does have the ability to adjust.\u00a0 He\u2019s certainly Mayweather\u2019s most difficult opponent in several years. \u00a0As long as Guerrero controls the pace and prevents Mayweather from making it a technical boxing match, the fight is his to win by close 12-round decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Martin Rogers, Yahoo Sports (Mayweather):<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cMayweather is too strong, too skilled and too clever and he will win by decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mike Rosenthal, The Ring Magazine (Mayweather)<\/strong>: \u201cI think Guerrero is a very good all-around fighter and tough as nails, but Mayweather is a great fighter even if he has slipped a tad.\u00a0 Mayweather by unanimous decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jon Saraceno, USA Today (Mayweather)<\/strong>: \u201cFloyd shakes off the rust and wins a decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lem Satterfield, The Ring Magazine Online (Mayweather)<\/strong>: \u201cThere will be some treacherous moments for Mayweather simply due to his relative inactivity compared to Guerrero\u2019s. \u00a0Mayweather will have been out for nearly a year since his last fight against Miguel Cotto on May 5 last year, but I believe that he will have enough determination and savvy to elude significant damage on the way to a victory on points over 12 rounds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tim Smith, New York Daily News (Mayweather)<\/strong>: \u201cGuerrero is no slouch as he proved against Andre Berto, but Mayweather is no Berto. \u00a0Mayweather is one of the best boxers and most skilled defensive boxers of this generation. \u00a0He won\u2019t be standing in one spot for Guerrero to tee off on him. \u00a0Everyone thinks they have a plan against Mayweather, but he is so adaptive in the ring that plans unravel and boxers are left grasping at straws just to stay in the ring with him. \u00a0I don\u2019t think Guerrero is the tactical match for Mayweather, but I think he has a good enough chin to withstand what Mayweather can throw at him. \u00a0Mayweather by decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bob Velin, USA Today (Mayweather)<\/strong>: \u201cGuerrero is one of the toughest fighters in the business, and has a will to win that is second to none in the sport. \u00a0But he has never faced anyone like Mayweather.\u00a0 Mayweather is the best there is at defending himself, as in, avoiding punches. \u00a0Guerrero will likely try to make Mayweather fight his fight, which is a \u2018toe-to-toe, I-can-wear-you-down-before-you-can-wear-me-down\u2019 style. \u00a0Guerrero may get to Mayweather\u2019s left shoulder, but it\u2019s unlikely he will do much damage to Mayweather\u2019s head or body. \u00a0Mayweather\u2019s patience will frustrate Guerrero and take him out of his game.\u00a0 Meanwhile, Mayweather will counter Guerrero at every opportunity and end up winning on points.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark Whicker, Orange County Register (Mayweather)<\/strong>: \u201cMayweather by ninth round technical knockout. \u00a0He has adjusted to age and become a far
