Coming off the most impressive win of his young career, before a\u00a0near sold out crowd, in his hometown of Washington, DC, Welterweight Dusty Hernandez-Harrison<\/strong> will be back in action on June 29 when he takes on welterweight gatekeeper Ben Ankrah<\/strong> at the MGM Grand Theater<\/strong> at Foxwoods<\/strong>\u00ae<\/strong> Resort Casino<\/strong>, in Mashantucket, Connecticut.<\/p>\n

Ankrah, a native of Accra, Ghana, is a 32-fight veteran and a former two-time champion in his homeland and he is also a former WBO Africa lightweight titleholder. This will be the toughest fight yet for Hernandez-Harrison, 15-0, 9KO\u2019s, who was named 2012 Prospect of the Year by\u00a0Stiffjab.com<\/a>. The Ghanaian fighter has faced top-notch competition throughout his career including undefeated welterweight Patrick Alottey, welterweight contender Steve Upshur Chambers, and the formerly WBC No. 1 ranked welterweight Thomas Dulorme, in all of which he went the distance. Ankrah’s last 4 opponents boast a staggering combined record of 70-6-4.<\/p>\n

“I have watched video on Ankrah and he can definitely fight; he\u2019s always active,\u201d Hernandez-Harrison said. \u201dHe’s a tough guy, but that’s what I want so I can keep improving and learning. I want guys that are going to push me and make me fight my best because ultimately that will make me a better fighter.”<\/p>\n

Hernandez-Harrison has had a busy 2013. This will be his fifth fight since signing with Washington, DC based advisor Jeff Fried in January of this year. Dusty\u2019s father and trainer, Buddy Harrison, believes that his son is right on schedule as far as his in-ring growth is concerned.<\/p>\n

“Every fight Dusty has had this year has been part of our plan of developing him into a more complete boxer,\u201d the elder Harrison said. \u201cI love when he fights in Washington, but the experience he\u2019s getting fighting on the road and under the TV lights will prepare him as he moves forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Dusty is facing a very crafty fighter who will show him looks he has yet to see since turning pro,\u201d Fried added. \u201cOne thing is certain; Dusty is working hard and trains for his bouts as an ultimate professional. Dusty’s work ethic will serve him well as he continues to climb the ranks in the welterweight division.”<\/p>\n

The fight, which will take place on the undercard of the HBO Boxing After Dark<\/strong>\u00ae<\/strong> triple-header headlined by Gennady \u201cGGG\u201d Golovkin<\/strong> vs\u00a0Mathew \u201cMack The Knife\u201d Macklin<\/strong> for the WBA\/IBO Middleweight Championship, will be Hernandez-Harrison\u2019s first fight in Connecticut; it will also mark the fourth time he has fought on the road this year.<\/p>\n

In his last fight Hernandez-Harrison scored a thrilling fifth-round TKO over veteran Eddie Soto in front of a raucous crowd of nearly 3,000 at the University of the District of Columbia where he will be taking classes as a freshman in the fall.<\/p>\n
