CANELO\u2019\u2019 fight card on Saturday, Sept. 14, from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., live on SHOWTIME PPV\u00ae.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>During his two-hour media workout at Shane Mosley\u2019s jam-packed home gym, that was streamed live on YouTube, UStream, sports.sho.com\/live, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goldenboypromotions.com\/\">http:\/\/www.goldenboypromotions.com<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayweatherpromotions.com\/\">http:\/\/www.mayweatherpromotions.com<\/a>, the super welterweight world champion did countless interviews, some in groups and others in one-on-ones. He also hit the heavy bag, sparred several rounds with weighted gloves and did calisthenics as 50\u2019s doo-wop and early 60\u2019s music blared in the background.<\/p>\n<p>The freckled-faced, red-haired 23-year-old Canelo has been staying at Mosley\u2019s house and working out at his home gym for about a month.\u00a0 The young superstar is scheduled to leave Sunday for Las Vegas.Below is what Canelo, as cool, calm, collected and confident as always, his trainer Chepo Reynoso, hid older brother Ricardo and Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoyasaid Tuesday:<\/p>\n<p>CANELO ALVAREZ, Unified Super Welterweight World Champion(Opening comments)\u201cI feel good about myself and can\u2019t wait to get in the ring.\u00a0 I\u2019m ready for this. \u201cI\u2019m working very hard and doing my job.\u00a0 Even though I\u2019m young, I have a lot of experience.\u00a0 That\u2019s why I asked for this.\u201cThis will be a tough physical fight, but I feel I have a lot of advantages.\u00a0 I am working on the things I can take advantage of.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>(On training in Big Bear)\u201cBig Bear has been great.\u00a0 It is one of the greatest places to train.\u00a0 Even though it is a lot of work, I\u2019ve been enjoying this camp.\u00a0 We\u2019ve accomplished everything here that we set out to do.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>(On making the contracted weight of 152 pounds, two less than his normal fighting limit)\u201cThe weight is not going to be a factor.\u00a0 I\u2019ll be fine for the fight.\u00a0 It\u2019s no big thing.\u00a0 Actually, I feel I\u2019m ahead of the curve.\u00a0 I\u2019m not worried at all.\u00a0 It<\/p>\n<p>(the weight) will come off and I will be fine.\u201cActually in some ways I\u2019m in my best shape, or will be.\u00a0 Before I fought Austin Trout, I\u2019d been off longer than I will be for this fight.\u00a0 I needed a lot of time to prepare for Trout.\u00a0 So, in some ways for this camp, my work has been easier.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>(On his potential)\u201cI\u2019ve always said that I\u2019ve never fought to my potential but that\u2019s because I\u2019ve never had an opponent to bring it out.\u00a0 I feel that maybe Mayweather will be the one to bring it out.\u201cI\u2019m not coming just to fight, I\u2019m coming to win.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>(On feeling he doesn\u2019t get the proper respect)\u201cI think a lot of people underestimate me, but those people are mostly critics, reporters.\u00a0 You never hear anything from the guys I fight.\u00a0 It\u2019s only from those outside the ring that think I am beatable.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>(On fighting on Mexican Independence Day Weekend)\u201cThis is a big day, an important time.\u00a0 It\u2019s Mexican Independence day.\u00a0 I know I\u2019ll have a lot of people there to support me.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>(On studying film)\u201cI\u2019ve studied tapes of the fights he (Mayweather) had trouble in, like those against Miguel Cotto and Jose Luis Castillo.\u00a0 I\u2019m looking for ways to penetrate Mayweather\u2019s defense like they did.\u00a0 Cotto had success, but couldn\u2019t maintain it.\u00a0 I plan to maintain it.\u2019\u2019\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s important to get off to a fast start and just win the early rounds.\u00a0 I want to win all the rounds.\u00a0 All the rounds are important, from the first to the last and I want to win them all.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>(Toughest part of being at training camp and away from home) \u201cI miss not seeing my daughter.\u00a0 I miss not being with her.\u2019\u2019OSCAR DE LA HOYA, President of Golden Boy Promotions \u201cI remember the first time I fought in a fight like this, a fight of this magnitude, and how I excited I was.\u00a0 Fighting on Mexican Independence Day is such an honor.\u00a0 You know both guys are going to be in great shape and it is going to be an exciting main event.\u00a0 But I\u2019m betting on my horse.\u00a0 I feel it could be time for the changing of the guard. \u201cThis is going to be a very interesting night of boxing, and definitely a memorable one.\u00a0 It\u2019s already a record-breaking event and now we\u2019ll see if it breaks the (pay-per-view) record.\u00a0 With all the social and media outlets out there, chances are that it might.\u2019\u2019CHEPO REYNOSO, Canelo\u2019s Trainer\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019ve known Canelo since he began to box when he was 13.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>[Co-trainer] Eddie [Reynoso] and I have been with him from the start.\u00a0 He\u2019s the same kid now as he was then, very humble yet very dedicated. \u201cCanelo was always very strong but now he possesses the intelligence. We always knew from day one that he would be great. \u201cFloyd Sr. has said some negative things about Eddie and I.\u00a0 He\u2019s questioned us as cornermen and trainers.\u00a0 Well, we\u2019ve had five world champions and been involved in 40 world title fights.\u00a0 The Mayweathers [Floyd Sr., Roger and Jeff] may be more popular and well-known because they were pro fighters, but it doesn\u2019t hurt their reputations that they work with a superstar. \u201cI think after Canelo wins on September 14, people will realize that he has a pretty good corner too.
