Yuriokis Gamboa survives a few shaky spots<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a unification bout clash for the IBF\/WBA Featherweight World Titles , Yuriorkis Gamboa, 19-0, 15 KO’s scored a twelve round unanimous decision over Orlando Salido, 34-11-2, 22 KO’s this past Saturday night at the Palms Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Gamboa was the winner of in most of the rounds, but still had some rough spots against the game Salido. Salido was credited with a knockdown in round eight, but was hurt in round ten. Gamboa would go on to drop Salido twice in round twelve, but was deducted two points for hitting Salido while he was on the canvas. When the score cards were read, Gamboa was the winner by scores of: 116-109, 114-109, and 115-109.<\/p>\n

Anthony Peterson suffers his first loss<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a back and forth eliminator fight for the WBA Lightweight Title shot, unbeaten Brandon Rios, 25-0-1, 17 KO’s took Anthony Peterson, 30-1, 20 KO’s to school in a fight that he would go on to win by way disqualification. Peterson won the first round, but Rios\u2019 pressure was impressive and round two a round in which he one, was one of the best of the fight. Rios hurt Peterson in round four. In round five, Peterson hit the canvas via a left hand at the end of the round which was the first time in his amateur or professional career he ever went down.<\/p>\n

In round six, Peterson was deducted two points for low blows. Peterson was DQ\u2019d by referee Russell Mora for another low blow in round seven. At the time of the DQ, Rios was up on all three judgesl scorecards by 68-62.<\/p>\n

Erik Morales Stops Willie Limond<\/strong><\/p>\n

Three division former World Champion Erik Morales, 50-6, 35 KO’s did what he was supposed to do in knocking out Willie Limond, 33-3, 8 KO’s in the sixth round. Don’t be too overly impressed by this win that made Morales look like a monster in there. Let’s see what happens when he steps up to face a real live opponent with a chance of winning.<\/p>\n
