Double Trouble<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

GGG and Chocolatito. A couple of weeks ago, Gennady Golovkin and Roman Gonzalez demonstrated why they are two of the best pound for pound fighters in the world. The anticipated firefight between GGG and David Lemieux was completely one-sided with Golovkin scoring an 8th round stoppage. Gonzalez was equally impressive in dismantling former champion Brian Viloria in 9 rounds. Chocolatito might be the best fighter we\u2019ve seen at or below 112 since the days of Ricardo Lopez. I\u2019ll look forward to seeing what 2016 holds for both of these outstanding champions.\u00a0Enough with the Flipping Catchweights! In a recent interview, Canelo Alvarez said he would be willing to fight GGG but only at a catchweight of 155 pounds. <\/p>\n

He said his body isn\u2019t ready for 160 yet. If so, then why are you challenging for a Middleweight title belt in the first place? Yes, catchweights are not a new concept but I still hate them. The Middleweight limit is 160 lbs. If the fight is held at 155, it\u2019s not truly a Middleweight fight. If we\u2019re going to have them fight at 155, we might as well create a new division because we certainly don\u2019t have enough of those.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s see GGG vs Canelo for the WBS Interim Super Jr. Middleweight Championship of the World. Now that has a nice ring to it.\u00a0Crawford vs Jean. Terrence Crawford\u2019s switch hitting performance against Dierry Jean would have made Marvelous Marvin Hagler proud. He completely outclassed and dismantled the overmatched Jean, stopping him in 10 rounds. Of course this was no great surprise but it does further cement Crawford as one of the most promising fighters in the sport today. On the HBO broadcast, he was mentioned as a possible opponent for Manny Pacquiao, who will reportedly fight for the last time in April 2016. My first thought is this is a bad matchup for Pacquiao. Manny if you\u2019re already thinking about the finish line, retire now. Stay away from this young lion.<\/p>\n

RSR Forum Hot Topic of the Week<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

RSR forum member Dean Todd<\/strong><\/em> recently questioned why so many boxing fans dislike Sugar Ray Leonard. Dean I\u2019m with you there dude. Sugar Ray Leonard was my favorite fighter growing up and he\u2019s in my top 10 pound for pound of all-time. Sugar Ray could do just about anything in the ring and was a ruthless competitor. Yes, he was a diva and his arrogance could be off putting at times. But, overall Sugar Ray Leonard has been an excellent ambassador and representative for the sport of boxing.<\/p>\n

Non-Boxing Thought of the Week<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Like many, I was prepared to write Peyton Manning\u2019s epitaph. After all, the 39 year old Manning had the second worst passer rating among NFL starting quarterbacks and led the league in interceptions entering this week of play. NFL fans repeat after me: \u201cI was wrong!\u201d 21 for 29, 340 yards passing; Not a bad night\u2019s work against the #1 scoring defense in the NFL. Perhaps the old gunslinger has a few bullets left after all.<\/p>\n
