\"RSR<\/a>A niggling knee injury has put a stop to former World Middleweight Champion, Sam Soliman\u2019s fight against rising USA middleweight star 23-year-old Antoine Douglas, which was to be held in Pennsylvania on Saturday, March 5th.<\/p>\n

Soliman\u2019s Manager, David Stanley said: \u201cSam is bitterly disappointed, but we view it as a temporary setback only. Postponing the fight is the right thing to do, as it makes no sense to fight injured, particularly at the level Sam fights at.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe feel for Antoine Douglas\u2019s team, but that\u2019s the ups and downs of boxing. This is only a delay, as Sam has his sights set on taking on Douglas, who we know is a tough, savvy and hungry boxer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSam\u2019s doctors have said Sam needs immediate arthroscopic surgery on his knee and he will be back in full training within six seeks and \u2018fight fit\u2019 eight weeks after that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce our US fight commitment is completed, there are negotiations for a very exciting opportunity later in the year. The risk of fighting injured, against medical advice would also impact on this opportunity. \u201d<\/p>\n

Sam Soliman said: \u201cI was powering along, and was in what I considered the best form of my career, but I\u2019m taking onboard the advice of medical experts and am going to get myself right again.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m no shirker, but I would have been letting myself and my fans down if I went into a fight knowing I was injured.\u201d<\/p>\n
