A lotta cats out there are talking about Amir Khan’s hand speed. Yeah, he’s pretty fast. But I say this. If you punch WITH him, like Danny G did, his speed ceases to be a factor. And remember Canelo is no slouch in the speed department himself. I’m not a fan but the red head puts his punches together real well. James Kirkland can tell you all about that aspect of Canelo’s hustle. I’m not saying Khan doesn’t have an outside shot but it’s slim to none. And slim just left town.

King Arthur\u2026<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Speaking of Mexican fighters Gilberto Ramirez gets his first world title opportunity against Arthur Abraham at super middleweight on April 9th in Las Vegas. It’s a good thing it’s not in Germany or Ramirez would have to knock Abraham clean out to get a draw. But joking aside, I’m intrigued by this match up. I saw Ramirez fight in the flesh when Top Rank brought him to Macau, China. I was impressed. Abraham isn’t the force he used to be which makes this fight about even. I’m not about to bet the baby’s milk powder money on this one but – if you’ve got a gun to my head at a Detroit gas station – I’ll go with the German to be too tough and hard punching for the Mexican wannabe matinee idol.<\/p>\n

Resurrection\u2026<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The much anticipated return of Andre Ward, aka \u201cSOG\u201d, is almost upon us. This weekend he steps into the ring against Cuban stand out Sullivan Barrera – a guy so hungry for success and the paydays that go with it he’s started gnawing at his own leg. Everyone wants to know if Ward is still the premiere American boxer or if he’s lost a step due to his extended layoffs. We’re going to find out. The Abel Sanchez trained Barrera wants to tear Ward limb from limb and snatch the Kovalev fight – and the big money that goes with it – out from under \u201cSOG’s\u201d nose. And I’m happy to say that makes him dangerous. Expect a brawl. I’m watching this one with Vaseline on my brows, my mouthpiece in, and a spit bucket next to my armchair. I don’t wanna suffer any collateral damage.<\/p>\n
