Finally, after a wave of rumors of a comeback, Georges St. Pierre finally confirms his plan to go back into the 8-sided cage of the UFC. St. Pierre expressed his intention to return after a 3-year self-imposed hiatus which saw St. Pierre relinquish the welterweight title and walk away from the sport. St. Pierre was optimistic about his return.<\/p>\n

“I love my sport and I still feel I’m at my best right now. The clock is running. I’m not getting any younger,” he said. “I’m in the peak of my career. If there is a shot, there is another goal, another run, I better do it and do it quick. Because it is time to do it now.” St. Pierre said.<\/p>\n

For the moment, St. Pierre’s management is still ironing out the kinks on what St. Pierre’s contract with the UFC be, since St. Pierre is a loyal endorser of Under Armour and the UFC has an exclusive apparel contract with Reebok.<\/p>\n

Negotiations are still ongoing at the time of this writing.<\/p>\n

It is well-remembered that St. Pierre walked away from the sport after a 12-fight winning streak, defended his title 9 consecutive times and was considered to be the greatest welterweight of all time. St. Pierre’s name is also consistent with the pound-for-pound list that have him placed second only to Anderson Silva during his title reign.<\/p>\n

His return would mark his 22nd fight in the UFC and St. Pierre hinted on wanting to fight current middleweight champion Michael Bisping.<\/p>\n
