In the PBC Main Event on ESPN, Denis Shafikov handed Jamel \u201cSemper Fi\u201d Herring his first pro defeat, stopping him at the 0:36 mark of the 10th round at the Santander Arena. The 2012 U.S Olympian Herring never got on track and seemed bewildered for most of the fight by his opponent\u2019s aggression. The Russian exhibited complete control over the fight and dismantled the less experienced fighter using an assault of power punches with both hands.<\/p>\n

Denis Shafikov, who was the aggressor throughout the whole fight, scored a knockdown in the second round and had Herring in trouble several times late in the bout. Herring\u2019s corner finally asked the referee to stop the fight in the 10th and final round after their fighter was staggered again with a barrage of heavy punches by the Russian. Shafikov, a former world title contender, appeared to never feel threaten by any of Herring\u2019s punches, and consistently backed up his opponent with crisp power punches. Shafikov improved his record to 37-2-1, 20 KO\u2019s, while Herring fell to 15-1,8 KO\u2019s.<\/p>\n

In the co-main event: Patryk Szymanski won a unanimous 10-round decision over Wilky \u201cSilky\u201d Campfort by scores of 98-92 and 99-91 (twice) to raise his record to 16-0,10 KO\u2019s. After being badly wobbled by a right hand in the second round, Campfort was able to counter more effectively in the middle rounds with his own power punches and appeared to have broken his challenger\u2019s nose in the 5th round with an overhand right. However, Szymanski regained control over the fight down the stretch and won the final three rounds comfortably. Those at ringside believed that the fight was closer than the judge\u2019s scorecards indicated. Szymanski displayed a solid left jab and solid body attack throughout much of the fight. \u201cSilky\u201d Campfort\u2019s record now slips 21-3,12 KO\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Former IBF welterweight titleholder Kermit Cintron, continued his comeback with an eight-round unanimous decision over Puerto Rican Carlos Garcia in a junior middleweight bout. Cintron improved his record to 37-5-2, 28 KO\u2019s, while Garcia\u2019s record fell to 10-16-1,8 KO\u2019s.
\nAttendance for the event at the Santander Arena was very poor despite the fact that the event was telecasted live on the ESPN network.<\/p>\n

Frank Dealba ,19-2-2, 8 KO\u2019s, scored a 3rd round TKO victory over Jonathon Perez 35-15, 28 KO\u2019s (Super Featherweights).
\nMiguel Martinez,2-1, earned a 4th round Dec. victory over Antonio Allen 0-2 (Super Welterweights).
\nChristian Carto 1-0, 1 KO, won his professional debut with a 3rd round TKO victory over Rahkeam Parker, 0-3 (Flyweights).
\nKashon Hutchinson 1-0, 1 KO, won his professional debut with a 2nd round TKO victory over Robert Ramos 1-5-1, 1 KO (Super Lightweights).<\/p>\n
