For years boxing trainers have said the sport is \u201c80% mental & 20% physical\u201d. If that is indeed the case, then undefeated heavyweight prospect Ed Latimore, 13-0, 7 KO’s has a bright future hitting 100%. On September 23rd, at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma Latimore gets his first shot at worldwide exposure when he faces another undefeated heavyweight prospect Trey Lippe Morrison, 11-0, 11 KO\u2019s on Shobox, in a scheduled six round bout.<\/p>\n

Latimore sat down in between training to talk about the upcoming fight and much more\u2026
\n<\/p>\n

BB: On September 23rd, on Shobox, you face undefeated Trey Lippe Morrison in a televised six round heavyweight bout. How has training been going for this fight and what do you know about your opponent?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Training has been a grueling journey of self-development and personal discovery. A fight on Showtime against an undefeated opponent with a name is the opportunity that all fighters look for. They say luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Well, this is the opportunity and so I prepare dutifully. I know that my opponent is a former division 1 football player so he will possess formidable athleticism, fantastic punching power and an indomitable fighting spirit. These are exciting challenges to face and I look forward to them.<\/p>\n

BB: You are coming to Morrison\u2019s backyard. Does this put added pressure on you?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

There is no added pressure, as the location of the fight does not modify his or my abilities. It is merely a place. Hopefully we don’t have to deal with the acts of God this region is known for, particularly earthquakes and tornadoes. Beyond geological or meteorological events, I have not thought much about the time or place of the fight.<\/p>\n

BB: Do you have a fight prediction?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I have a fight desire, and that is for me to exit victoriously with my opponent and I lacking permanent injury. The only prediction I can confidently make is that this fight is going to be spectacularly entertaining.<\/p>\n

BB: Favorite movie?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Man on Fire. Every major masculine theme is covered in that movie, plus is Denzel Washington being a genuine bad ass. You can’t go wrong there.<\/p>\n

BB: Favorite actor?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Favorite actor is a toss up. Edward Norton or Will Smith. I give Smith the edge because his acting is marginally more engrossing, but this is most likely a bi-product of the roles he’s built his career on. That and Bad Boys 2 might be my favorite comedy ever.<\/p>\n

BB: Favorite actress?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Cate Blanchett. I’m just a fan of everything she does and the movies she plays in.<\/p>\n

BB: Favorite singer?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Nina Simone. They simply don’t make voices like that anymore.<\/p>\n

BB: Favorite Football Team?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Favorite football team is the Pittsburgh Steelers. In the post free agency era, it only makes sense to root for my home team!<\/p>\n

BB: Favorite food? (When you\u2019re not in training for a fight)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Green olives or sushi. Fortunately, both of those are more or less alright during training<\/p>\n

BB: Sound or noise you love to hear the most?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Rain. I lived in Los Angeles for 2 years as part of All-American Heavyweights and the lack of rain sounds bothered me more than I thought they would!<\/p>\n

BB: Least favorite sound you like to hear?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I hate the sound that silverware makes when it scratches on plates. It actually makes me feel nearly immobilized.<\/p>\n

BB: If you could meet one person from any time in history, who would you like to meet and what would your first question be for them?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Jesus and I’d ask him if there was a faster or better way to unite people behind love and cooperation? Humanity is doing a terrible job at this “Love thy neighbor” thing and I’d want to know if he had any suggestions to improve our track record.<\/p>\n

BB: Finally, what is the saying you live your life by?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cYour good habits will automatically protect you from other people’s bad habits.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
