This Saturday night, at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, WBC World Welterweight champion Danny \u201cSwift\u201d Garcia, 32-0,18 KO\u2019s will face Samuel Vargas, 25-2-1, 13 KO\u2019s in a non-title fight. The fight will be televised on Premiere Boxing Champions on Spike TV.<\/p>\n

The World Boxing Council is going to allow Danny Garcia to participate in the non-title defense without stripping him of his title. Garcia, who won the vacant WBC title against Robert Guerrero earlier this year in January, is already signed to face WBA champion Keith Thurman in a unification match next year. Garcia\u2019s management looks bad in taking this fight against Vargas because he was knocked out in four rounds by Errol Spence last year. Garcia will need to defeat Vargas much quicker if he wants to look good.<\/p>\n

Also, on the same card, former world champion Javier \u201cEl Abejon\u201d Fortuna, 30-1-1, 22 KO\u2019s will meet undefeated rising prospect Omar Douglas, 17-0, 12 KO\u2019s in a lightweight contest. Fortuna lost his WBA World Super Featherweight title to Jason Sosa by 11th round technical knockout back in June of this year. Since then, 27-year old Fortuna rebounded with a technical knockout win over unbeaten Marlyn Cabrera back in September. The 25-year old Douglas, from Wilmington, Delaware, won his only fight this year back in June when knocked out Alexei Collado.<\/p>\n

Undefeated super welterweight prospect Jarrett \u201cSwift\u201d Hurd, 18-0, 12 KO\u2019s will face Ionut Dan Ion, 35-3, 18 KO\u2019s. The 26-year old Hurd, who resides in Accokeek, Maryland, has won his last four fights by technical knockout, with victories over undefeated prospects Oscar Molina and Frank Galarza. The 35-year old Canadian lost to IBF World Welterweight champion Kell Brook in March of last year, when he retired at the end of the fourth round. Dan Ion was floored twice in the second and fourth rounds before quitting in his corner.
\nMiddleweight prospects Kyrone \u201cShut It Down\u201d Davis, 10-1, 4 KO\u2019s and Carlos Gabriel Ozan, 12-1, 4 KO\u2019s are scheduled to face each other.<\/p>\n

Undefeated super lightweight prospect Milton Santiago, 15-0, 3 KO\u2019s will square off with Claudio Rosendo Tapia, 28-16-4, 13 KO\u2019s.<\/p>\n

The fight card is being promoted by Marshall Kauffman (King\u2019s Promotion), Reginaldo & Oswaldo Kuchle (Promociones del Pueblo), and Danny Garcia (DSG Promotions).<\/p>\n
