Nelson was previously leaked that Roy Nelson was under contract with Roy Jones JR.&#8217;s Square Ring Promotions after being part of the March 2009 event &#8220;March Badness&#8221; where Nelson faced Jeff Monson. Nelson was slated to fight Shane Carwin but Carwin withdrew for a back operation. <!--more-->UFC President Dana White didn&#8217;t offer much insight on the situation but he did release a statement back in November 2010 saying:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These guys go out and sign with these rinky-dink little promotion companies and sign these bad contracts, and let&#8217;s just say Roy Nelson is involved in a bad contract right now that he had before.  There&#8217;s a couple of different organizations out there that do it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Square Ring Promotions was claiming first rights to all say so with Nelson, Square Ring Promotions was also seeking $10,000 from both Zuffa LLC and Nelson.
