<\/a>By Tyler \u201cThe Miracle Man\u201d White<\/strong><\/p>\nThe day before his first world title fight, professional boxer Danny O\u2019Connor collapsed in an attempt to make the weight before his fight with reigning WBC World Champion – Jose Ramirez.<\/p>\n
Some disturbing pictures have been released showing O\u2019Connor laying collapsed on the floor and again later in a hospital bed, with medical equipment attached; all over his body.<\/p>\n
O\u2019Connor, who is unbeaten in his last 4 fights and recently won the WBC International title, is one of many fighters who uses dehydration tactics in order to lose weight.<\/p>\n
However, after this worrying episode, he will surely be wondering whether or not it\u2019s worth trying to make the super-lightweight limit anymore.<\/p>\n
In a message to his friends and fans on twitter, O\u2019Connor wrote \u201cI let the idea of being a world champion cloud my judgement over my personal health. Nothing is more important than my health\u201d.<\/p>\n
Hopefully, this message and these harrowing images go to show the dangers of cutting weight, with dehydration tactics in particular.<\/p>\n
There have been several documentaries and short video clips showing fighters from boxing and MMA attempting to shave off the last few pounds of weight.<\/p>\n
In every bit of footage that I have seen, these hardworking athletes look as if they\u2019re reduce to weak and frail men, despite all of the training they\u2019ve stacked up during their camps, which is the last thing a fighter wants before they go to war.<\/p>\n
Although this is a massive disappointment for Danny, I can only hope that it serves as an eye opening experience for all fighters out there, who sacrifice their health in order to make a specific weight class.<\/p>\n
As O\u2019Connor said himself, \u201cnothing is more important than my health\u201d\u2026<\/p>\n
