<\/a>By Jason J.G. Gamble<\/strong><\/p>\nThe NATO summit was concluding on course here Thursday, with European leaders stunned at the ineptitude of the man known as Donald J. Trump. Their planes were getting gassed up and ready to go, but in his signature rude, late and ignorant manner Trump showed up.<\/p>\n
Trump was a half-hour late and with a completely different agenda than any of the other leaders in attendance. He rudely took a meeting that was supposed to be over Georgia and Ukraine hostages by seizing the floor and one by one, scolding and shaming countries for their defense
\npending. Trump was on such an incoherent tirade that some diplomats said they feared he could well try to withdraw the United States from NATO. <\/p>\n
For more than an hour, countries that were supposed to be part of an alliance were caught in a whirlwind of complete chaos with Trump on waging an unrelenting campaign to belittle and berate NATO. \u201cI believe in NATO,\u201d Trump said, claiming credit for forcing Western allies to raise their defense spending to \u201clevels never thought of before.\u201d<\/p>\n
He called the alliance \u201ca fine-tuned machine,\u201d remarking that there had been \u201cgreat unity, great spirit, great esprit de corps.\u201d Thursday\u2019s spectacle in Brussels was a signature Trump moment: Loud, rude and horribly uninformed. As usual Trump declared a victory to the press and he made claims that European countries made commitments to spend more for NATO. Predictably no one else left the meeting with this impression. Trump then went on to claim that Germany was in some way owned by Russia. Trump has continuously claimed that Germany receives more than 60 percent of its energy from Russia when in actuality it is closer to 3 percent. Germany is nearly two thirds green and renewable energy. The misinformed conspiracy theories of Trump were so out of line that one German newswoman could only laugh as she read his comments.<\/p>\n
America is now a joke on the world stage and Trump has been the punchline. According to the Associated Press several officials who had been in the room when Trump amped up the temperature appeared physically exhausted afterward. One let out a full-body shudder. Another, a long, nervous belly laugh. A laugh that speaks volumes. Originally it seemed that Trump\u2019s only policies were simply to reverse everything President Obama did. Now it seems he is in destroying the fabric of American politics. Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to stop laughing and recognize the severity of our situation. Donald J. Trump is out of control and though I cannot tell you how this story will end, I can assure you it will not end well. It is time to impeach this man. If you still support him I will leave you with one question. Will you support him if it means losing all of America\u2019s allies? Think about it. Remember our collective rise is the demise of injustice.<\/p>\n
