Actor Roger Perry died Thursday at his home in Indian Wells. Calif., after a battle with prostate cancer. He was 85.<\/p>\n

In a career that lasted over 50 years, Perry had dozens of feature, television, and stage credits that saw him begin in the business by being discovered by Lucille Ball, who put him under contract to Desilu Studios. He would co-star with Pat O\u2019Brien in the 1960 ABC series \u201cHarrigan and Son,\u201d and co-starred with Chuck Connors and Ben Gazzara in the 90-minute drama \u201cArrest & Trial\u201d (1963-64).<\/p>\n

Perry was a guest star on the \u201cStar Trek\u201d TV series in a memorable first-season episode in 1967, \u201cTomorrow Is Yesterday,\u201d playing Captain John Christopher. He appeared on \u201cLove, American Style,\u201d \u201cIronside,\u201d \u201cThe F.B.I.,\u201d \u201cHawaii 5-0,\u201d \u201cBarnaby Jones,\u201d \u201cThe Bob Newhart Show,\u201d \u201cQuincy,\u201d \u201cCHips\u201d \u201cThe Fall Guy,\u201d and many more before becoming a regular on programs such as \u201cThe Facts of Life\u201d and \u201cFalcon Crest.\u201d<\/p>\n

His movie credits included \u201cFollow the Boys\u201d (1963) with Connie Francis, \u201cRollerboogie\u201d with Linda Blair, \u201cThe Thing With Two Heads\u201d with Ray Milland and Rosevelt Grier, and \u201cCat\u201d and \u201cCount Yorga,\u201d which both co-starred Craig T. Nelson and Mariette Hartley.<\/p>\n
