Super middleweight Demond “Dbestatit” Nicholson, 18-3-1, 17 KO’s, will face off against Brazil’s Isaac Rodrigues, 25-2, 20 KO’s. CBS will handle the broadcast efforts. The action kicks off at 7:00PM ET with the featured bout(s) airing at 9:00PM ET on CBS Sports Network.

This fight will mark Nicholson’s first return to the ring since his seventh round technical knockout loss to Jesse “Hard Work” Hart in April. Nicholson most notably lost a controversial split decision at the hands of Steve Rolls two fights earlier. The fight with rolls was a part of Showtime’s ‘ShoBox: The New Generation’ series and Showtime’s broadcasting team had Nicholson ahead (me included) in the fight despite being on the receiving end of a knockdown.

Nicholson has remained focused and is intent of facing the best competition available while maintaining an active schedule. A native of Maryland, Nicholson has trained and sparred with some of he best fighters in he Washington, D.C., area. Every fight has been a learning process as will be the case in August 18th. This is another opportunity to proceed forward and as they say, the game doesn’t wait.

Nicholson trains like a man possessed. He’ll no doubt be in shape and 100% ready when the bell rings. With that, we’re guaranteed to get 100% effort. You don’t have to take my word for it, check his track record and you’ll see that it holds true. I’ve yet to see a Nicholson fight that didn’t deliver. In this case, all win.

Rodrigues comes in with 20 knockouts in his 25 victories which indicates something may be there from a power perspective. He’ll have to overcome Nicholson’s stiff jab if he’s to be successful. He’s also sporting an eight fight winning streak. I’m sure his intent is to disrupt any plans for a hometown victory. The opportunity could lead to other big fights should he have a good showing. The super middleweight division has a number of good fighters right now to include the likes of Gilberto Ramirez, George Groves, and David Benavidez. The future looks promising.

The Maryland Live card will also feature a bevy of other fighters from the Washington, D.C., area. This includes the Myke “The Professor” Fox, 17-0, 4 KO’s, who’ll face wily veteran Demarcus “Chop Chop” Corley, 51-31-1, 28 KO’s, in a junior welterweight contest. Fox will fight for the third time this year while Corley will be participating in his fifth bouts, third in back to back months. Fox is a rising prospect out of the area and Corley, even at this stage of his career, should be a barometer for where Fox is as far as development.

The night of action won’t end there as there are a slew of fights lined up as you’ll see below. The card comes to us on behalf of Tony Jeter Promotions in correlation with GQ Promotions. Maryland Live will be, well, live! What’s left next is for you to be there, or be square. Boxing in the Nation’s Capital is at an all time high and this event will help to increase the anticipation. It doesn’t stop there as boxing as a whole is on the rise in 2018. And with that, stay tuned for the latest and greatest.

A ‘Meet & Greet’ with the fighters is scheduled for 1:00PM on Thursday, August 9th, at the Prime Rib restaurant located within Maryland Live! Casino in Hannover, MD.

Tickets to the Nicholson Vs Rodrigues event at Maryland Live Casino can be purchased at: http://www.ticketfly.com/event/1736169-championship-boxing-live-hanover/.

Fight Card

Demond Nicholson, 18-3-1, 17 KO’s Vs Isaac Rodrigues, 25-2, 20 KO’s
Mykal “The Professor” Fox, 17-0, 4 KO’s Vs DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley, 51-31-1, 28 KO’s
Ivan Golub,14-1, 12 KO’s Vs Lenardo Tyner, 34-12-2, 21 KO’s
Fransico Bustos, 7-0, 4 KO’s Vs Juavan John, 2-6-1,
Donald Wallace, 2-1-1, 1 KO’s Vs Ashton Skyes, 2-6-1, 0 KO’s
Zarifbek Nishanbaev, 4-1, 3 KO’s Vs Kevin Womack, JR, 8-16-4, 6 KO’s
Charles Johnson, 0-1, Vs Chester Stewart, 0-0, 0 KO’s
Dante Cox, 2-0, 1 KO Vs Varon Webb, 0-1, 0 KO’s

[si-contact-form form=’1′]

[AdSense-A] By Joshua “City” Brewer Maryland Live Casino in Hanover, MD, will play host to its first live boxing broadcast on August 18, 2018.
