<\/a>By Tyler \u201cThe Miracle Man\u201d White<\/strong><\/p>\nSo far, 2018 has already been an excellent year for boxing fans. We\u2019ve seen some really entertaining; 50\/50 fights and we still have a load more to come before the year ends!<\/p>\n
So far in 2018, we\u2019ve already seen Lomachenko stop the incredibly talented Jorge Linares.<\/p>\n
We also witnessed Deontay Wilder just about keep hold of his WBC World title, after a shootout with Luis Ortiz. Badou Jack took on Adonis Stevenson which ended in a draw and Gary Russell, JR. beat the young and talented Joseph Diaz.<\/p>\n
Errol Spence, JR. proved his dominance in the welterweight division, by dominating former World Champion Lamont Peterson. Whilst Scott Quigg and Oscar Valdez went toe-to-toe in an absolute war for 12 rounds.<\/p>\n
We also saw the end of David Haye\u2019s professional career as he lost for the second time to Tony \u201cBomber\u201d Bellew.<\/p>\n
The aforementioned fights only consist of a few top level contests which we\u2019ve had the pleasure of witnessing so far this year, but of course, we\u2019ve also had all the excitement of the World Boxing Super Series.<\/p>\n
The WBSS has seen George Groves dominate the Super Middleweight competition so far, taking Eubank, JR. apart in his semi-final and dislocating his shoulder in the process (which made for great entertainment).<\/p>\n
Meanwhile Oleksandr Usyk went on to win and to dominate the Cruiserweight competition, securing the Muhammad Ali trophy by putting in a disciplined performance against the scarily powerful Murat Gassiev.<\/p>\n
This high profile win and unification of the cruiserweight titles, has helped Usyk to set up a fight with Tony Bellew, which we can now add to our growing list of fights to look forward to this year.<\/p>\n
So, after an exhilarating first half to the year, which has also just seen Kovalev suffer a stoppage defeat to Eleider Alvarez and the tricky Tevin Farmer win World honours, we still have so many more big fights to look forward to!<\/p>\n
These massive fights include:
\n\u2022 The rematch between Canelo and Golovkin
\n\u2022 Joshua\u2019s next World title defence against Alexander Povetkin
\n\u2022 Bellew Vs Usyk<\/p>\n
And there is also a possibility of the following fights taking place by the end of the year:
\n\u2022 Amir Khan Vs Kell Brook
\n\u2022 Mikey Garcia Vs Lomachenko
\n\u2022 Tyson Fury Vs Deontay Wilder<\/p>\n
With all of the fights we\u2019ve witnessed so far this year and with all the fights that are potentially there to come, could this be one of the best years in recent boxing history that we\u2019ve had?<\/p>\n
Whatever the answer, we can certainly look forward to what\u2019s to come in boxing over the next few months!<\/p>\n
