Johnny Tapia Vs. Frankie Archuleta III is Off

The on-off-again rubber match set for June 4 at the Hard Rock of Albuquerque, N.M., between Johnny Tapia and Frankie Archuleta is once again off – this time for good. Archuleta has failed his physical due to a detached retina. A replacement will be named tomorrow for Tapia and the card will go on. Though two fights have fallen out – Charles Alderete vs. Carlos Sanchez and Josh Torres vs. Cesar Valenzuela – the promoters say they still have a full line-up. In the co-main event, welterweight Hurricane Hector Munoz (18-4-1, 11 KOs) will fight former Tapia opponent and sparring partner Jorge Reyes (21-29-3, 19 KOs), who is 1-18-1 in his last 20 fights spanning 12 years. Reyes, a former super bantamweight, will be fighting at his career heaviest.
