Major Boxing Controversy in the UK: Ricky Burns – Nicky Cook RESULTS

Burns the Scotsman beat Roman Martinez previously and entered with the hope tonight in the Echo Arena in Liverpool UK to have a righteous and satisfactory fight and ended with a shrug of shoulders from him, when he realized that he won with no contest from Cook. The cookie certainly crumbled with pain in his back and contracted, the towel was thrown in and the fight was discontinued. Cook did put his neck on the line and wanted to recapture this WBO Super Featherweight title. From Dagenham, Cook brought in a following from the south and this was Scotland v England with buildup, it gave everyone disappointment. How did he pass his medical and the British Boxing Board will have to give some answers about this fight. Was this a farce?

Ring entry for Cook was powerful with “I’ve Got The Power” and Burns took entry in a pink outfit, he was pleased with himself and the crowds and was looking forward to the fight.

Round 1 – Burns threw in the first punch and Cook went down immediately, he went in and it was a striking body shot, however Cook was in agony he looks at the referee, he goes forward again and Burns threw some punches and he was incomplete agony and the towel was thrown in.

Burns was placed on a stretcher and taken to hospital apparently with a previous back condition it became apparent tonight he was in no shape to fight. Therefore Burns retained his WBO title and said “I hope he’s alright and I’m disappointed with all that training again I’m sorry to the fans that have travelled. Frank Warren the promoter said “Cook trained and passed his medical and it’s a freak thing that happened and we are looking for unification titles now.”
