Alistair Overeem in UFC: DONE DEAL

By Sean Farrell

If you asked the best heavyweight in all of fighting Alistair Overeem how Golden Glory and Zuffa get along he would say great, but is this really the case?

Overeem, is still the Strikeforce heavyweight champion due to a contract clause, recently discussed what is going on with him and his contract.

“I am in an exclusive negotiation period (with the UFC). If we can find common ground, we can work together, and if we can’t then we’re going to depart,” Overeem said. “I want to fight in the UFC. They have the best guys, but it has to be at the right terms. So, we’re just going to have to wait and see. The dream for me is to directly fight for the UFC title. I already hold the other three titles – the Strikeforce, Dream and K-1 titles. Which other title is there? This fight would make me champion of all belts. That would interest me.”
According to reports, Overeem is bound to exclusive and separate 120-day negotiation and matching periods with Zuffa. Both Zuffa and Golden Glory’s Bas Boon refused to comment on the current talks but I have an IN on this.

UFC President Dana White has stated that the two sides are not even close to a deal, but they are working on getting one done quickly and Overeem is expected to make his debut in the main event of UFC 140 with Lyoto Machida in the co-main event slot against Davis, Bader, Little Nog, or Phil Davis.
