Manny Pacquiao – Juan Manuel Marquez BOXING RESULTS: Robbery in Vegas

By Geno McGahee

Juan Manuel Marquez, 53-6-1, 38 KO’s, defeated Manny Pacquiao, 54-3-2, 38 KO’s, but was robbed in the end via majority decision. Marquez controlled Manny from the outside, confused him, and cruised to the finish line, ahead on the RSR card 116-112, BUT never underestimate the corruption in boxing and the need to protect a potential showdown with Floyd Mayweather, JR.

Pacquiao could not get off in the fight, only finding success sporadically, while Marquez was very accurate and landed the better shots. Unfortunately, it was apparent that the only way that he would have beaten Pacquiao on this night was if he knocked him out, but he probably would have been disqualified for it.

Marquez won this fight and may have won the series if the playing field was level. This is another one of those things in recent boxing history that have hurt the sport. The ONLY good thing about this fight was the fact that Manny looked so controllable and beatable that it may entice Floyd into the ring with him…and if that fight happens, I’m even more convinced that Mayweather, JR., easily wins.

In other action, Timothy Bradley easily beat Joel Casamayor by late stoppage.
