Fedor Emelianenko RETURNS – Breaking MMA News

By Sean Farrell

PRIDE FC, many remember this promotion as the pinnacle of MMA, others remember its waning light and tragic downfall. But EVERYONE remembers “the Last Emperor” and all of his MMA glory, and on New Year’s Eve, he makes his return to Japan.

Fedor Emelianenko, will continue his quest to return to the highest ranks of the heavyweight division when he meets Satoshi Ishii at M-1 Global and Dream’s New Year’s Eve card. The bout will be the main event, with the show being televised by HDNet in North America.

Emelianenko was stuck in a three-fight losing streak in Strikeforce before defeating Jeff Monson in his native country of Russia last month. Fedor (32-4-1) will be making his return to his stomping grounds of Japan after a three-year hiatus.

“Fedor has been in great shape, and is ready for what we think will be a hard and competitive fight,” M-1 Global Director of Operations Evgeni Kogan said in a release.

Ishii (4-1-1) is no joke however, just far less experienced in MMA. Ishii is an Olympic gold medalist for Japan in Judo, and he owns wins over Jerome LeBanner and Ikuhisa Minowa.

Genkidesuka!!Oomisoka!! 2011 takes place from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. A total of 11 bouts have been set for the night including mixed rules, women, kickboxing, and pro wrestling fights.
