Alistair Overeem Vs Junior dos Santos DONE DEAL – UFC BREAKING NEWS

By Sean Farrell

The fallout from UFC 141 has been immense, with Overeem finally getting respect after forcing Brock Lesnar into retirement. Now, the UFC is hoping heavyweights: Junior dos Santos and Alistair Overeemw will lock horns inside the Octagon sometime over the summer, according to UFC president Dana White during an interview Tuesday for UFC Tonight. The show debuted on FUEL TV and will be a fixture on the network going forward.

“Hopefully this summer,” White said “This summer is probably when it’s going to go down. Alistair wants to take some time off. Dos Santos is ready, but needs to get some training in. So hopefully, this summer.”

Overeem secured his title shot at the UFC heavyweight title when he defeated Brock Lesnar at UFC 141 via roundhouse kick to the liver. Overeem is the former Strikeforce, DREAM, and K-1 world champion, and is looking to add the fourth and final major title to that list with the UFC’s heavyweight championship.

As for dos Santos, he has been recovering from a knee injury suffered in training prior to his world-title victory over Cain Velasquez and still needs time to be at 100%…Don’t expect much of a wait however, this fight should happen come hell or high water.
