RSR Message Board Update

By Mike “Rubber Warrior” Plunkett

If you’ve followed the sport of professional boxing for any substantial length of time you’ve no doubt come to appreciate one key aspect about our sport that makes it unique, it’s a year-round pursuit not subject to seasons, play-offs or one selected championship moment. But periodically boxing has its dry spells, those patches of non-activity that leave us anxious and wanting more. “What is the Longest Dry Spell you recall in Boxing” addresses the current void fans around the globe are enduring, asking how the last six or so weeks compares to those other dry periods of yesteryear while looking forward to the oasis that is the forthcoming Juan Manuel Lopez versus Bernabe Concepcion WBO featherweight championship bout.

For those of you that like to look back at the big name fighters of the past and compare them to relevant known fistic commodities of the present then you may be in for a treat. “Ray Robinson vs. ….” is a discussion that pushes the envelope, asking for your views on how the consensus number one pound per pound performer of all times would stack up against some of the more recent big names in our sport such as Mayweather, Leonard, De La Hoya and Cotto. It’s a topic that draws that fine line between favoritism and objective balance and a topic that requires some thought before merely expressing your views. Be forewarned – no parrots or idolaters allowed. It’s a thread well worth your attention. It’s all here and its ready for your two cents and it can all be found in our Boxing Discussions forum.
