RSR Boxing Results: Juan Manuel Marquez – Juan Diaz PPV

By Geno McGahee

Juan Manuel Marquez, 51-5-1, 37 KO’s, easily controlled Juan Diaz, 35-4, 17 KO’s, winning easily over the course of 12 rounds by the scores of 116-112, 117-111, and 118-110.  Diaz was gun shy the majority of the fight while Marquez used his superior skills and defense to befuddle and dominate the fight.

Contender Season three winner, Sakio Bika, 28-3-2, 19 KO’s, was disqualified against Jean Paul Mendy, 29-0-1, 18 KO’s, when he hit him when he was down with a vicious uppercut after only a minute of action.  Sika started early, coming forward and imposing his strength.  He forced Mendy back and dropped him to his knees with a left hook.  An uppercut followed and knocked Mendy cold, forcing the referee to stop the fight and DQ Bika in the very first round.

Jorge Linares, 29-1, 18 KO’s, defeated Rocky Juarez, 28-7-1, 20 KO’s, dominating the fight over the course of ten rounds, winning a decision.  Linares dropped Juarez in round five en route to a unanimous decision win via scores of 99-90 (twice) and 97-92.

Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero, 27-1-1, 16 KO’s, survived a bumpy last round to outpoint former champion, Joel Casamayor, 37-5-1, 22 KO’s.  They would exchange knockdowns, but Guerrero was more consistent and controlled the action, picking up the UD by scores of 98-89 (twice) and 97-90.
