RSR UFC 118 Results: James Toney Taps Out & Marcos Maidana fight Result

By Geno McGahee

Surprise! Well, not really. James “Lights Out” Toney, former middleweight, super middleweight and cruiserweight champion, was no match in the octagon against former MMA Champion, Randy Couture, tapping out in the very first round. Toney was down after 15 seconds and could do nothing and at 237 pounds, it wasn’t much of a surprise that he was unable to get back to his feet.

James Toney may return to boxing after this…unless he has a death wish or there is enough dollar signs attached to another UFC showing.

Boxing…

Marcos Maidana, 29-1, 27 KO’s, held on to his Interim WBA Light Welterweight Title with a unanimous decision win over DeMarcus Corley, 37-14-1, 22 KO’s, by scores of 117-110, 116-110, and 115-112. They say that every champion has that one great fight left in them and Corley had a great fight, shocking the champion and most reporters, including me with his great performance, at times stunning Maidana. Amir Khan, after watching this, may be ready to take on the man that most think he is afraid to face in Maidana.
