By Canelo Promotions

This coming week the undefeated Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will end his preparations in Big Bear, California, with an open workout scheduled on Friday at the Westside Gym in Los Angeles. The WBC super welterweight world champion reached the California mountains on the first week of May, accompanied by his trainers José “Chepo” Reynoso and Edison Reynoso, who claim that “El Canelo” made one of the best preparations in his successful boxing career. In Big Bear, the undefeated fighter managed to avoid altitude sickness, had adequate sparring partners and mainly worked in an excellent environment.

This week Alvarez starts speed stage, as he has finished the stage of strength and endurance as was planned. He will train only with left-handed sparring for four rounds on average. The brand new world champion and his team are scheduled to arrive in Guadalajara on Saturday and continue preparations on the same day at 1:00 PM in the “Julian Magdaleno” Gym. So, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is virtually ready to defend his WBC superwelter belt against the British southpaw Ryan Rhodes, on June 18 at Arena VFG in Tlajomulco, Jalisco.
